Rockland Farms (old Bowling Green North)
This is the old Bowling Green Course was, and its in terrible condition. I know its April, but grass was uncut all over the course. This is not the US Open and we shouldnt had trouble locating a ball hit in fairway. Greens were bouncy and rough. Staff was very friendly when we arrived. And understood we were late because directions send you to SVGC Club house which is 10min away. I wouldn't recommend playing this course until it gets cleaned up some.
Poor course conditions, extremely slow pace of play
I’ve played the course a number of times in years past and always enjoyed the experience. This round was very disappointing. The fairways were awful, neither the greens nor the tee boxes had been mown in quite sometime and the pace of play was horrendous and there wasn’t a Marshall to be found anywhere to speed things up. We waited on every hole, every shot while there were no groups ahead for at least 4 holes. Very disappointing.
Terrible Course conditiions
I have usually loved this course over the years but this weekend was by far the worst shape it has ever been in. The fairways were pretty much dirt. I don't know what happened but I'd rather play out of the rough as it was actually green and had grass. I attached a picture to show what they looked like. I've played my fair share of bad courses but they cost $20, not $55. I won't be back unless they fix whatever issue they have going on.
Not Worth 50 Bucks
First time and last time playing this course. The range is too tight and is right next the the first hole of the Blue Nine and White Nine. Anyone who shanks or hooks a ball on the range could hit a player as there is no net on either side of the range. The fairways on the White Nine are very patchy and feel like concrete so my playing group spent our time trying to hit the rough in order to have some grass to work with. The bunkers are just full of clay and no sand which is just laziness. You might as well hit off the cart path and get the same effect. The greens had more bumps than a school zone, your putts will not roll true. For a golf course to charge 50 bucks a person during 'peak' Friday time is a rip off due to the course conditions. I can pay the same price and play at Blue Ridge Shadows which is a much better maintained golf course.
Play it soon.
The course is in good condition for winter. Much of the fairway grass is spotty. The owner has purchased the golf course across the street (Bowling Green) and has asked to build 286 homes on this site. So, if you want to play here, do it now before it is gone.
Turn,turn,turn
For the time of the season, the course was in nice shape. A gorgeous day in February turned frustrating after playing nine on the white course. When we made the turn to play the second nine on the Blue course, we had to wait over 30 minutes as four other groups and a twosome teed off. We had to wait on every tee box and our second nine took 3.5 hours.
Shenandoah Valley GC - a nice walking course
SVGC has 3 9-hole "courses" so even if you start early, you could be behind someone on the turn. However, the course is open, people don't need to look for balls long, and tees are near the previous hole greens.
Great course. Beautiful.
There was a tournament so pace was slow and we had to play the same 9 hole twice. If we had known would have picked a different time.
Everything's good to play here
Liked to play a round of golf here with my 8 buddies. Needed to fill sand in some bunkers and cut the grass a little short on the greens.
Fantastic changes!
Rockland farms at Shenandoah Valley is a totally new course than it was before it was bought. The course conditions are absolutely fantastic. The greens are in impeccable shape, and it’s such a fun little course to play. Would recommend this course to anyone, and I plan on playing it again, in a couple weeks!
