Great course. Starter and Marshall play favourites
We played the course in 4 hours and 15 minutes but were given the impression that we were slow when starting the back nine
We had a threesome but starter told us that we had a single joining us and one of our group had to get on the single person’s cart because only two carts were allowed per foursome.
Yet the group behind us was only a twosome so why was the single put with our group and one of our group evicted from his golf cart?
Also we say many examples of three carts being used per foursome.
I guess that the rules are only applied selectively.
Beverage cart woman was excellent.
Not impressed with starter or marshall who criticised us yet we were a foursome and group behind was a twosome.
Fabulous Trek and great shape!
Beautiful course that presents a challenge from whatever tee you choose. The course in fantastic shape and the pace of play was great. Coming from the east coast of Canada, this course was a treat for this time of year. Recommend any golfer and there are tees that accommodate for any handicap.
Good course, poor service
I know this is an upscale private course, but if you don’t appreciate outside play then don’t offer it. Bag drop people not welcoming or friendly. I asked for directions to the starter and he pointed down there. I said this is our first time here and he said ‘I figured that out”. No “welcome, how can I help you”.Pro shop no friendller. Starter too buy complaining about everything that was going on and how he had to work yesterday on his day off. It’s a beautiful course, great putting green and driving range, but we won;t be back. Not worth the money to be treated like that.
Best course in the Sarasota area
University Park is my absolute favourite course to play in the Sarasota area. The fairways, greens, tee boxes are pristine and magical to play. We played a round in under four hours and enjoyed lunch at the outdoor bar afterwards. A wonderful day!
Plush
Everything from tees to fairways to greens in excellent shape. Greens just a tad slow for my liking, but rolled true & held approach shots nicely. Some bunkers could use a fresh topping of sand....the couple green side I was in were just a little thin, but well maintained. All staff encountered were friendly, and nice GPS on carts. The only negative of the day was the constant "notification" from the cart GPS telling us we were 7 minutes behind & were going to be asked to skip a hole to maintain pace. To be clear, we waited for the group ahead of us to reach the green on #1 before teeing off, as instructed. They were playing the old fogies tees, we were playing the back tees. The group in back of us appeared to be also playing from the forward tees. After the 3rd hole, we never saw the group in front, and I observed the group in back a couple of times arriving to the tee box on the first few holes as we were on the green putting. As we were approaching I believe the 7th hole, we had a Marshall advise us that the group in front just cleared the green......to which we stated, sorry we just stopped & got water & ice and wasted 5 minutes trying to get in the washrooms, as there were no access codes on the carts or scorecards, and nothing came up on the GPS screen. ( And no, the Marshall did not know the code). We used natural resources to relieve ourselves as we couldn't gain entry to the facilities. We proceeded & made the turn in 1hour and 58 minutes. Throughout the entire back 9, every hole our GPS continued to advise us we were 7 minutes behind schedule.......and again, never once saw the group behind us on the back 9. Honestly, I don't know anyone who plays more ready & quick golf than I & my playing partner, and admittingly, the 2some we were with ( who never played the course before) struggled a bit, but we finished our round in exactly 4 hours & 3 minutes !! Felt totally rushed on the entire back nine, and honestly, ruined the experience for me. I'm a believer in keeping pace, but I guess I know never to bring hi handicappers with me to play UPCC, It just ruined the day for me, but I'll still return, as the course is always in great shape......I just wont bring any hackers with me!!!
Our favourite course in the area
We had a great game. The course is definitely the best maintained in the are - apart from Longboat Key Club. Not too challenging if you can stay on the fairways. Only downside was a slow 4 ball in front of our three ball who did not give us the courtesy of calling us through.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
By far the best course I’ve been to. Will be recommending to everyone in the area. Couldn’t be happier.
Relaxing Environment and Play
This is a beautiful course with big shade trees throughout the course. The fairways and greens had a moderately soft feel to them rather than the hard packed surface on some of the newer courses.
After 18 holes, the outdoor bar was convenient and a relaxing environment. We definitely plan to play there again. It was well worth the price.
Nice country club experience
Always an enjoyable experience playing here - the course is well maintained, good practice facilities, friendly staff. Nice patio bar area for pre/post round - food is pretty good. Recommended.
Beautiful Course
Course is beautiful, very well kept up.
University Club is a bit pricey but almost worth it.
Great condition. Best public course in town.
3 nines. Busy course but play moves. Conditions are very good. They are replacing the irrigation system but is not interrupting play.
Nice country club experience
This is one of my preferred pay-to-play courses in the area - staff and members are always very welcoming. Course condition was fairly good - but the greens a tad slower than I've seen them here (probably recovering them since it's end of the season now). Pace of play was an issue on the front 9 - but fine after the groups ahead cleared after 9 holes. Recommended.
