Golf Advisor: Top 25 Courses for Pace of Play in the U.S. (2023 #4)
Reviews
Needs TLC
It really needs plenty of TLC. The fairways had several kinds of grass in addition to weeds. The tee boxes were often not cut or dirt , some grass and weeds. I have played six courses in the Venice area recently and it is in the worst condition by far. I will not return!!
Greens are like concrete
This is a course that needs some attention. The greens are rocked hard and I hit a gap wedge from 100 yards a mile high hitting in the middle of the green and watched it bounced into the woods. This course has very very tight fairways and is it very much a challenge except for exceptionally good golfers.
Waterford Golf Course
From the time I pulled in the parking lot the staff were prompt, professional, friendly and helpful. This place is well organized! Course was in great condition! My only complaint, 8 minute tee times made the pace of play a little slow but what's your hurry when you're playing here!
Great coirse, professional staff!
First time playing Waterford. Staff met me in the parking lot, took my bag and told me my cart number and where it was parked. Very efficient staff but play was slow. 8 minute tee times slowed things down. 4 1/2 hours for 18 holes. Seemed slow but had a great time!
Better management
Overall this is a nice course for all level of players, and the staff is friendly. Greens and fairways in very good condition, but pace of play was horrible due to poor management of the play. Our group of 3 was behind a 5-some, and even when we called the pro shop to intervene, absolutely no one came out to correct this situation. Not sure if that group left the tee as 2 separate groups, but it made our round less than desirable.
Not too bad, but not at full price
Course was fun, pretty interesting layout, no two
Holes alike. I played with a member, Jeff, he was 80, he was a great host…he made the day.
Greens were a bit slow for me but playable.
Course was overall in good shape
There were some tees that needed tending to and some greens that needed some better edging around them but other than that the course is a whole was in good shape and if you got it on a golf now discount definitely worth the money. The course weaves its way through some properties and water and some of the fairways and landing areas are a bit narrow as you'd expect for this type of golf course I did enjoy the driving range as it was off of grass I do not like hitting off of Matt's. Although $10 for a small bucket of balls is not necessary in my opinion.
Great course
Not much to say except that the course is well maintained...greens, bunkers, fairways...all good. The rough..well, it should be, so I think thus ruff is fair. Plenty of practice area, professional staff, ranger keeping things moving...a few alligators, and 3 diverse layouts makes for a good golf day
Great value
Have played course before, but my playing partner did not. He liked greens, condition of the course. People picked up clubs at the car. Considering it is February in Southwest Florida, prices can be outrageous, but fees were livable at $79. Will play again this winter.
