Wentworth Hills Golf & Country Club - Semi Private
About
Wentworth Hills Golf Club in Plainville, Mass. covers a scenic landscape that ranges from densely wooded hills to open, grassy meadows. The greens vary in size and shape from hole to hole, reflecting the diversity of the terrain. They were also carefully shaped and angled to make the approaches especially challenging. More than 60 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the golf course and water hazards come into play on several holes. The eighth and 17th holes are challenging twin par 3s that share a large lake. They present golfers with the decision to either go for the green or play it safe, but the latter will be met with a much trickier shot if you want to make par. Wentworth Hills G.C. is tough but four different tee boxes make the course approachable for every skill level.

Beutifull course, but a victim of its own success
This is certainly one of the best best venues in the south eastern MA area. The problem with it is that it was extremely busy; I felt pushed and rushed throughout my play, especially since this course is definitely NOT for those of us who want to walk (I thought I was going to get run over a couple of times by golf carts)
My suggestion to anyone who visits this course is to bring PLENTY of balls; the way the tees and fairways are angled, you will loose plenty of them (and the woods are thick with brush). I'd also recommend not going to this course if you want a relaxing day of play - there are too many locals, in too much of a hurray.
Very well kept course, with interesting greens
Scared of the rain
This is a nice course tucked right over the Rhode Island border in Plainville Mass. You don't have to be a big hitter here, where many of the holes require spot golf and rely on accuracy. Grounds crew does an excellent job especially on the fairways, the only negative would be how slow the greens played. I was disappointed with how soft the staff was blowing the rain horn twice when it was only scattered light rain, MAN UP!. Besides that i thought it was a great course I would return to.
nice course
8th hole it tough and easy to lose the ball in the water.
The hot dog was amazing and it is overall nice experience.
Good conditions but painfully slow greens
A well-run facility, not busy on a Friday afternoon so pace was outstanding. Overall conditioning of course is excellent, with the exception of extremely slow and bumpy greens. Other than a few holes not a difficult layout, most holes tend to be short.
Short but not easy
This was my second time playing this course and my first round this year. As a twosome we teed of at 11:00. The parking lot was fairly full and a female twosome were hitting their second shot as we approached the first tee. I was fearful of a slow round. We never waited to hit a shot and didn't have anyone behind us the whole round! The course was playing short that day from the whites but offers other challenges. A lot of doglegs, knarly 2nd cut, greens that didn't break as much as expected, and hazards kept our focus.
Nice place
Greens were real slow. Came up short on every birdie putt. Thought I hammered them and still short, Otherwise, nice place.
Greens need work.
The greens on the course need to be improved. It would be a much better course if this could be done. They currently are second rate.
Congrats to New Owners
Great to see some stability return to this beautiful course. After years in "limbo", it appears that the new owners are making a commitment for the long run. The course is always in great shape (greens still need time to recover from winter). With the improved signs you might even be able to find this hidden gem!
Great course!
One of my favorite courses. Great condition! Have and would recommend to my friends.
Add To Your List To Play
Returned to course for the first time with my son who played here in the High School State Tournament in 2008. A very decent layout and a challenge for all skill levels who must choose the right tees to match their skill level. 12 and under handicaps should play from the long tees (6200 yards). Greens were a bit slow and bumpy for Memorial Day weekend but let's face it, it was a tough winter in New England. You can tell they take care of the course.
Wentworth
Please have cafe staff available. We had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get drinks during our mid time break!
course is very tight, need to use all clubs in your bag and use your head to score well
great layout, course is always is great shape. greens getting better each time i play there.
Great course
Great spot. Great shape. I played twice there this year and I think the greens are outstanding. Course makes you think. Can't just get up and bomb away in every hole. Course management's the name of the game here.
Great Course
Short but tough, need to have good accuracy. The conditions are very good, just needs a bit of work on the greens, a little slow.
Great course
Course is very nice but the old guy working the desk is a moron and rude. GM was able to accommodate tho.
The course is in great shape for this time of the year
Fall golf can be a challenge but the grounds keepers at Wentworth Hills have done a great job of keeping up with the change in season. We had a very enjoyable round.
Good course
The Pace of play can be a little slow. depending on what tee you play from there are multiple driveable par 4s and the par 5's play as long par 4's. It can be challenging if you dont keep the ball in the fairway. As to be expecrted in the fall, the ground is a little muddy and its tough to find your ball in the leaves. The greens are very slow, but they roll well
greens are fast and course in good shape
wet course and we had cartpaths only but sunny day. enjoyed course. no ready food at the cluibhouse slowed down the round.
Great Layout but a litte short.
This is a great course in the middle of the woods of Plainville. Its a shorter course (definitely play from the Blues if you have an length on your drives). I would certainly recommend making the drive out to this course... they have a friendly staff and the pace of play is usually excellent.
Well maintained and challenging
This is a great course that's well maintained with sufficient challenge for the seasoned golfers. They supply plenty of bottled water along the way for those hot summer days. Saw some beautiful foliage as well on my mid fall game day.
