Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

Challenging but fun course
Greens were in good condition, recently top dressed so the speed was fast. Fairways were in good shape. Had a few wet spots. But we saw the crews out making repairs. The only complaint with regard to the course was the bunkers, no sand, some spots firm gravel. The staff was great. Even with the traps not having much sand, I'd still play this course again. Course management or bust on this layout!
Slow Play!!!!!!!!
The course was OK. Not a traditional Palmer layout, but nice greens and some interesting holes.
Pace of play, however, was horrible.
There were no marshals on the course.
We were put out as a twosome.
There was a foursome two holes in front of us who were consistently a hole and a half behind.
We left out of frustration.
Fortunately, the greens fees were low, so we didn’t mind not finishing 18.
We will not play there again. Ever.
Perfect day
My wife and I had a 7:40 tee time. The fairway and greens were pretty wet from the irrigation on the first few holes. After that it was a beautiful course that was very well maintained. We loved the “moguls” and open fairways that are perfect for our game. Their was plenty of water and sand traps to navigate, but easy enough to avoid unless you really spray a shot. Wish we could get another early tee time to beat the heat before we head back east. Would definitely play here again when back in town.

8/2/2021 Golf Day at Dayton Valley
Another great day at Dayton Valley! Met the new owner who talked about his past as a golf pro and his purchase of Dayton Valley. Good Luck and all the best of success at Dayton Valley.
Texas golfer
This is one of our regular stops every year. Course is one of the best in Carson Valley. In excellent condition. . We’ll be back again next summer.
Much better than prior visits
I had played Dayton Valley several times in the past and each time it was miserable, from dust storms to overly windy, to bad course conditions, but this time I was delightfully surprised. The course was beautiful, greens were true and fair, tee boxes were nice. I will be going back.
I not worth the drive definitely overrated
Replay today and it’s a decent cars but nowhere near as 4.5 rating I think it’s more like a 3.5 if you live in the neighborhood and it’s close sure go for it. But we drove almost an hour to get there because of the rating and it’s just not worth it
Fun golf course
Windy day but pace of play was great. Course is good shape but the greens had sand on them but rolled pretty smooth. The greens will be really good in about a week or two!
Thank you for reviewing the course. Your feedback about the sand traps is important to us. We are working to get everything at the course up to par. The current condition is not the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Dayton Valley Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
