Good Value
Course was in very good shape for Spring considering we just had two solid days of rain. Greens are fast, but fair. Staff very friendly. Food is well priced.
Character of Course
Front Nine dull, Back Nine Very Interesting-nice layout
hard course but harder to put
They are still in the process of upgrading the course. They have removed some of the pine trees to make some of the holes easier to play. They have not cleaned up the cut branches. Most people would clean as they go. It would help if they would also pick up some of the beer cans in the woods that careless golfers threw.
The worst thing about the day was trying to put on some of the worst greens in the area.
But I would still play it again.
Tough Greens
Not an easy course in my opinion. Greens are hard ( literally) some will hold a wedge shot but some will not!!
pretty tough curse
I have played this course several times. It is a little demanding as well. If you play weekends, they really need a marshal to keep play moving better.
Nice shape
Level of difficulty is good for the price of a round. Best deal around for sure. I play this track more than others because of its design and price Combo fits my price range and my skill level. The greens are very hard to read and can be very fast even I. The soggy winter months
course in excellent condition
had 10am tee time had frost delay. got off only 10 mins after tee time. played in 4 hrs. very good golf course
nice course
Beautiful course but lots of blind shots. Will be a much better experience the second time around. Only con really is I would like to see holes marked better.
Sloped fairways, Plays better after the first time around
Fairways are sloped and requires well placed tee shots to stay on the fairways. Some of the holes do have blind tee shots but this is a mountainous course and is expected. The greens require work as some are rough and have aeration holes that were not filed in with sand. This course is frustrating when played the first time but is very challenging after you become familiar with its layout. The tee boxes need work as most are not level and need reseeding.
Geens weren't Groomed Bunkers were in bad shape
Geens weren't Groomed.
Divots weren't repaired.
Bunkers were in bad shape.
fun layout
Played as a single on a sunday morning. Teed off at 10 and finished by 1:45. Fairways were a little dried out and many of the bunkers are being converted to grass bunkers. Greens were in good shape
not impressed
Course is re-doing several sand bunkers into grass bunkers. There were no ball washers on the course. No water coolers were available. Yardage markers gave conflicting information when comparing tee marker monuments and score card. A lot of crabgrass encroaching on fairways and tee boxes. Greens in fair condition.
Its extremely challenging but fun.
Very challenging golf course. Plays longer then yardage suggest. If you stay in the fairway you'll have good looks at par with a chance for birdies. Greens are deceptive in my opinion. Overall definitely fun if you love a challenge.
Pleasantly surprised
I had read some other reviews prior to playing and found the course much more enjoyable than I thought I would. The fairways and greens were well maintained although the tee boxes could use some work. Will play there again.
Greens need attention.
Some greens have been destroyed by geese and the clughouse staff acts like they dont care if you play or not. It is a good value though. If you can deal with holes in the greens either from wildlife or the aereator.
average course
We've gone to Jackson's Chase twice. The second time we went they had done work to the greens on the front nine and they were difficult to putt on. We wish we would have known this. It seems that others did because they were only playing the back nine. But all around, this course is OK.
Great value. Open, yet challenging.
First time I played the course. Real fun par 3's. One of the par three's ( # 16 ) green sits about 40 feet below tee. Hit it straight, otherwise you will find yourself in difficult rough. Some of the rough is true links style. ( Grass about 8-10 inches high). Beautiful rolling fairways. Fast and rarely flat greens. Very good layout.
Love the new changes to the club house. Course maintained as best as possible.
Pleasant course to play on. Gave me a chance to work on my short game on the roaming mountain slopes.
What happened?
When ownership changed last year things seemed to turning in the right direction. Conditions Improved, friendly staff, upgraded clubhouse. Now it has turned 180 degrees to worse than before.
Examples:
All ball washers are gone.
All water coolers have been removed.
On course porta johns are gone.
No sand mix in the on cart bottles.
Cups obvoiusly were not cut in a long time since the edges were grown over.
Bunkers are a mess...some are being converted to grass bunkers.
Tee boxes are all crabgrass or bare. Crabgrass not mowed.
Beautiful course in great condition.
This is a good course to play if you are in the Shenandoah Valley. It is well maintained and always in good playable condition. The greens can be frustrating as they are hard with lots of undulations. The pins placements yesterday presented quite a challenge. This course is very scenic, easy to reach, and a good value.
