Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Nice Course
The course was in good shape, especially for the end of July. It is short with narrow, rolling fairways and challenging greens. The only problem I had was the non-resident rate was excessive. It is not a $100 course. Why do people who are also paying for hotel rooms, plane tickets, rental clubs, etc... also have to pay twice as much for green fees?
Over Booking
One of the few courses near to where I live. I book as early as possible and they let me out as a single just when the sun starts to rise.
They are now double booking which means they are sending off on both sides. When you make the turn there are many groups now ahead of you.
This is not worth the money at all
Hi u314162614318, we sincerely apologize for the experience you had, but thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will use this as a learning experience on how we can improve. I would love to discuss this further with you, please give me a call at 702-854-3803. Elijah G. - Director of Golf.
Do not play here
At check-in we needed to ask for water and towels in 112 F
Our cart was old and seat was ripped which hurt our legs
No starter or Marshall to keep up play
Mowers did not stop for us
Beer cart came around once
Most importantly we finished our round and everything was closed up. A worker leaving in the parking lot at 1:50 pm stated it was due to excessive heat warning. The safety of the client was not considered. We needed to use a washroom and have a cool place to sit and wait 20 min for our Uber. Plus no one was there to turn in our cart to.
The worst golfing experience in 40 years. We played Bali hai and TPC earlier in the week which was comparable price wise and would recommend those courses instead.

Excellent Round with the Boiz
Super good round early tee was the best. In and out like the wind and the course is in awesome shape. Definitely looking to play there again soon.

Good bang for your buck
Course is pretty good shape all around. Some of the greens are beat up, lots of divot marks not fixed, probably needs to be resurfaced on more than a few holes. Putts ran true though, speed was decent. Fairways great, rough thick but playable. The bunkers were implayable however. Basically like trying to hit off gravel so any shot in the bunkers I just moved back & played from the nearest rough. Pace of play was spectacular b/c noone was out & I played with 2 other ladies, 1 relatively new to the game & we still played in unde 4 hours.
Hello Talleybands82, thank you for your review. Our grounds team is working hard to keep our course conditions tip top in this hot weather season. We hope to see you back again soon! Bill W. General Manager
Good for Money/Location
Compared to other courses in the area, good price. Course was in pretty good condition, greens and fairways nice which is what matters. Some trash around the course but it borders freeway so that’s probably from wind blowing it in.
Hi ajschane, thank you for taking the time to reiew us. We're glad you enjoyed your round at Desert PInes! We hope to see you back again soon. Bill W. General Manager
Great Course Bad Bunkers
Overall the course was awesome!
The bunkers were in bad shape but due to a previous review, we weren't surprised and just treated them as ground under repair.
One nit was the staff didn't warn us that the driving range was not cart accessible so we had to take our bags and walk over.
The rental clubs were older and could have used new grips but performed well.
I'd definitely play again!
Great course for $60
Played for $60. Greens were nice just a touch slow witch was fine. Fairways were good. Some bunkers were wet and inconsistent. Tight fun short track. Would play again for sure.
Hi JKpro, Thank you for the review! We're glad you enjoyed Desert Pines Golf Club and we hope to see you back again soon! Bill W- General Manager
Tough times in the Desert
Not that Desert Pines should shoulder the critisim but it's time to adjust pricing in Vegas. In from Canada and both courses i played this week shouldnt be charging any more than $40. If they need to have seperation for residence rate go less. Next time I come to Vegas I wouldn't bring my clubs. As someone that loves the game and could play everyday, that's not good.
Hello u314, We're sorry to hear that your experience at Desert Pines Golf Club left you disappointed. Please reach out to me if you'd like to discuss your experience further. 702-388-4400. Bill W. General Manager
It will be around for awhile
I played here because I wanted to play it one last time before the City turns it into low-income housing, but it sounds like it will be awhile before that happens.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good of condition the course was in (besides the dreadful bunkers). The Fairways were lush and the Greens rolled very well. A little slow, but overall, they were very good.
No beverage Cart, no marshal/ranger and it was hard to find an employee most of the time, but they are on strict city budget and this is their way of cutting corners. Played behind a couple of slow groups that didn’t think about letting me pass, so that added to an afternoon on a course that is meant for 2-3 hour rounds.
Overall, worth the trip and I plan on going back, knowing now that the end isn’t as close as we all thought. Just be thankful that Billy Walters doesn’t run it anymore, because you can play for $50 instead of $200.
Hi U000000, Thank you for the kind words! I also appreciate some of the more candid feedback on your experience. I'll be sure to share with our team and use as a coaching tool. Bill W. General Manager
Hi u, thank you for taking the time to leave us this kind review. We do plan to be here for a while and hope to see you back often! Bill W- General manager
Marshals were pricks
This golf course is jammed into a little location. Overall, the course conditions were fair, but having a Marshall watch you on every Teebox and chastise you at you every time you came around the corner because a twosome is chasing down three foursomes in a roll is ridiculous.
Hi Dan, thank you for this feedback. We will address your concerns about the marshal. Please feel free to reach out to me directly should you like to discuss your experience further. Bill W- General manager 702-854-3801
Bunkers need work
Overall course was good except for bunkers. Need more sand and maintenance or upkeep.
Hi u, thanks for taking the time to leave us this review! We'll address your concerns and hope to see you back again soon. Bill W- General manager
Hi Lenox, thank you for the rating. I'd like to hear more about your experience. Please reach out to me at 702-854-3801. Bill W- General Manager
Fix the Bunkers
All the bunkers should be considered as ground under repair.
Tees, fairways and greens are in decent shape. Also, the driving range needs some attention. Need updated mats and balls.
I paid $50 local rate. It would be tough to get me out there again until the bunkers are fixed.
Bad conditions
The course is being sold so they are not doing maintenance the way it should. Bunkers are full of grass buildup. Roughs are very scruffy. Very disappointing.
