Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Fix the Bunkers
All the bunkers should be considered as ground under repair.
Tees, fairways and greens are in decent shape. Also, the driving range needs some attention. Need updated mats and balls.
I paid $50 local rate. It would be tough to get me out there again until the bunkers are fixed.
Bad conditions
The course is being sold so they are not doing maintenance the way it should. Bunkers are full of grass buildup. Roughs are very scruffy. Very disappointing.

Decent shape… crappy staff.
First off course was in decent shape. Decided to play this course as a solo and go out with my wife because of all the open tee times (made me skeptical). Never have I ever got done with 9 and decided I will never be back. Was told I was going behind a group of friends 12 people 3 different tee times. I wasn’t worried because I was just out to enjoy the day. However if you enjoy Marshalls basically on you after every hole this is the spot for you. Marshall also not only told me once but twice as I was about 165yrds out to just go ahead and hit as the guys in front were on the green… come
to find out he told the guys behind us to hit as well and they had to tell him we were still in range. Had another employee drive up change the trash drive right over the tee box and tee marker didn’t even look back. Guys in front of us were driving all over the tee boxes and up to and right around the green.
I’m a local first time playing this course for the rate and open times. But this experience will take this course off my radar. Heard they are closing in the near future and you can tell by the type of people they have working for them. There are much better courses for same value. Don’t waste your time!

Well maintained track
Overall I would rate this course 4/5. The greens were in excellent condition -- might be the best I have seen in Vegas for an open to the public course. Only problem was the greens were super slow -- maybe from watering?
Pace of play was sluggish for this track. It usually is so I was prepared. Narrow fairways with huge bushes lead to lots of balls disappearing then lots of searching going on.
One other issue not golf related. One of the water features on the front 9 had a terrible sewage like smell with lots of dead fish and birds. This was not good. This issue needs to be resolved ASAP.
Overall a nice course and fun to play.

Best greens in Vegas
Had little hopes for this course due to its price and open availability, but I was very pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to go back again! While the bunkers are definitely a bit roughed up and the driving range could use a little love, the rest of the course was great. And the greens were textbook perfect, not a rough patch on them! Staff was great and the pace was quick, few people on the course. Definitely come check it out!
Hi, U! Thank you for taking the time to leave us these kind words! I'm so glad to hear that you had a great time at Desert Pines and hope to see you back again soon! Bill W. General Manager

Played here about 10 years ago and the course was in better shape then. I know the pandemic has hurt everyone in Vegas but golf is back in a big way.
The course could use an overall clean up, the bunkers are hard pan, over growth and dead tree debris need to be cleaned up!
Played in Mesquite and the courses are immaculate, for the same price .

Very nice day
A great course on a small piece of land. They ticked 18 in. Not sure how. My wife and I had a great round of golf
Would recommend GPS … we did hit water we never knew existed. But the course was just what we wanted.
Hi, Jrideout! We're glad you had a great time at Desert Pines Golf Club and look forward to hosting you again soon. Bill W. General Manager
A hidden gem?
This course isn't as crazy as usual Dye job.
The fairway doesn't have the usual crazy moguls seen at PGA West course. Railroad ties aren't on every hole. But the course is tight so hitting straight shots will lead to good score. The condition of the green wasn't great as they're still healing from recent airations (slits) and the fairways were in moderate shape with some burnt spots. But the layout is fun as no two holes look the same. Overall a good value, fun play and good pace of play due to lack of attention. I heard weekend golf can take longer.
Hi Sooner, thank you for taking the time to review our course. We're glad you had a great time and look forward to hosting you again soon. Bill W- GM
Little TLC needed
This Pete Dye guy must hate golfers! This course is so tight you might want to bring a 55 gallon of Vaseline when playing it. Definitely the most undulating course from tee to green that I've ever played...
No GPS on carts!!!
Hi Will, thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed our Pete Dye design and hope to host you again soon. Bill W. GM

Fun round
Pace of play was quick! Tee off at 9:00 and no one ever slowed us down! Coarse was short and was able to reach the green with a tee shot on a par four first time ever!!! Greens were a bit slow but still able to score with no issues. Only real negative was lack of sand in the bunkers!
Hi Spirit143, Glad to hear you had a great time at Desert Pines Golf Club. It sounds like you played well! We look forward to hosting you again soon. Bill W. General Manager
Solid price performer
Start with pace of play - our group got around in under four hours, which for the time of year (Spring break) was solid. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly (more on that), and the price was significantly lower than a lot of other tracks in the area of similar quality. Conditions were pretty good given the recent weather as well (ok, I'll nitpick and say the bunkers could have used more sand). Range for sure needs an upgrade, but again, kind of nitpicking. There was a large event in the clubhouse as we were finishing. The staff jumped through hoops to make sure we got our food, etc.. in spite of. So 10/10 for them!!!
