Best bang for your $$$Golf$$$ in So. Nevada
Very well run local course. Danny, Josh and the rest all are very good examples of C.S.R. done right. The clubhouse though rebuilt , is old school golf. No grand ballroom
no $250,000 flowered driveway. A small bar, seating to fit the course load. Dining area is well done. Nice view of the mountains in the background. The food is outstanding.
Luis can really spin out some good plates. Called in at #8 and ordered the breakfast burrito. Having owned an eating establishment we are pretty picky about our food. At the turn it was ready to go. Piping hot , portioned for two, no hot sauce ,extra tomato. Exactly how we wanted it done. Very , very tasty. The practice area is workable , putting, chipping areas are well kept . Again , no flower beds or any other foo-foo appointments. Driving range is a basic layout with good hitting areas that mirror turf conditions on the course. Again ,old school . The course is very playable. If your looking to make it a big challenge we suggest hitting from tee boxes where the fairway bunkers are in play for your tee ball. If you drive it 205-235 play the 3rd t box and you''ll get it . The county flood control runs through the course yes. There is older housing yes. An out of control fade will hurt you here ,yes. But if your looking for great conditions /service/food at a great rate look no further. Your there. The fairways are seeded with a hybrid that in over 30 years of golf I have never seen before. It plays very well and turf conditions give you extra run out by 30% . Or more. Links style play can work very well here. Just remember everything plays a left to right slope. Anyone who has played on a mountain course will pick this up fast. For fast fairways the soil under it is not very hard. Divots are true [ please use seed ] and usually will not snag your club. The bermuda rough is another animal. For first timers on bermuda you can expect the unexpected. It's even different than bermuda anywhere else. In the desert the root system is shallow and spreads out . Think egg foo yung . Every rough in So. Nevada uses this grass. Sometimes the whole course. Not here though. And thank you Mr. Greenskeeper. The greens are true, wicked and tricky to read. But fair to the player. Again, thank you Mr Greenskeeper. If we sound biased a little , well sorry. We have belonged to half a dozen different clubs and for the golf dollar [tourist or local] this is it. No question. This was an observation of the first time back on this course in 25 years. After play that day we dropped out of where we usually play and joined up here. Since that time we still feel the same. No gripes whatsoever. And , not a bad lunch yet.
Needs some TLC
I played the course this week. A lot of the fairways were under repair. There are no Ball Washers or Trash cans throughout the whole course. If you hit it down to the right, good luck finding your ball and the carts aren’t allowed down there. Wouldn’t play it again.
Decent Value
Nice neighborhood course at a decent value. A bit quirky with a flood control channel being in play for most of the holes, but forces you to play target golf. Greens ran true and were in great shape.
Brutal
Greens were in excellent condition. Tee boxes were being aerated and over seeded I guess. The course layout is horrible. If you don’t hit a draw, you’re loosing a dozen or more balls on this course. Everything drastically falls toward the wash and when it hits there, it’s gone forever. Difficult is one thing but this course was the worst I had ever played. I’m sure the fairways will be much better in a month or so. On top of all that, having to pay $90 as an out of state resident, terrible experience and I would never play there again. BUT, the staff were extremely nice and the booking experience was easy. My wife scheduled this for me so I am still thankful for that!
Disappointed
This course is misrepresented by the website. From the tee box to the fairways this course is in disrepair. Not one tee box was in good repair and most places in the fairway are not uniform -- a lot of ground under repair or bumpy fairways. A bright spot were several of the green conditions but not all. This course is built near large culverts that remove stormwater and the design is for rolling into the valley's unless you stay far to the left on most holes.
Worst course
The grass was not in great condition. The layout was the worst. They had a ravine to the left of 1-9 and a ravine to the right on 10-18. With a big slop down. One bounce and your ball is in the water. The water stretched the whole way down.
They had multiple people doing construction on the ground. Very distracting.
The 18th hole is a par 3 and directly in from is the chipping area for practice. Very distracting. After we finished the club house kitchen was closed. It was 12:30pm. No cart girl also.
Overall, I wouldnt recommend anyone to play here nor will I come back to play.
Lovely people and really friendly. Breakfast nice and staff were amenable when we asked about sharing clubs. The course fairways were poor, but greens fast.
There was a lot or rubbish off the fairways.
Good Value
Course was definitely a good value for the Vegas area, greens rolled nice, very fast, fairways tight, with slope to drainage ditch on most every hole, very challenging
Course Needs Work
The course was Club at Sunrise was not in very good shape. Bald spots on fairways throughout the 18 holes. They need to put a fence to keep golf balls from falling into the gulch that ran throughout the 18 holes The fairways were narrow and if you veer off course just a little the ball rolls into the gulch and the water flowing through it and it gets lost. it was not an enjoyable experience.
Top 5 Greens in Las Vegas Valley!
This course is notorious for the water channel running through the entire venue. Everything breaks towards the right and into the water, making it a repetitive but challenging course.
I did run into the head greenskeeper during my round and learned more about how they’re doing better to take care of the greens. These greens are receptive and rolling very true with only a few marks in them. I play quite a bunch in the Las Vegas valley and these are definitely in the top five quality of greens. Totally worth the Price to go and enjoy the challenge of the course and learn to hit short, controlled shots instead of trying to bomb every shot. Good luck.
Do some Golf Cart Maintenance!
The course has some poor spot in the fairways...
But the major problem was that it was very difficult (sometimes impossible) to operate the parking brake on the golf cart. The staff was unconcerned thinking I was just not getting the "trick" to it.
Fun course, always hit left, fairways good, greens excellent, personnel friendly, helpful, kind. We had fun.
Golf Now App needs improvement!
I tried to reserve a tee time for Friday on a Tuesday evening. The app jumped to Wednesday and locked in my tee time. Since it was less that 24 hours in advance of the tee time, I could not cancel or move it. No way to contact Golf Now for a correction. Had to get up early the next day and call the course to help me straighten it out due to Golf Now’s lack of availability to correct the matter.
