Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

MUST PLAY!
This is old school, classic parkland golf! It's a must play because it's fun, challenging, and also cool to play where Tiger won his first tournament. On every hole, there are historical signs - READ them. And then, prepare yourself...for a battle.
This course is NOT easy. The rough is thick and the fairways are small. My ONLY knock on this course is the greens - way too slow!
like a municipal golf course
Very nice staff. Played for $35 which is cheap for Vegas. Nothing special about course. Decent shape. Best part is done in 2:45 which in 115* weather is good.
Gem
Great course!! The bonus of a hot dog and drink for free and a cooler with ice and water was a great unexpected gift..
Maskless
Staff in pro shop not wearing masks even tho they require customer to wear one .Acting as if the pandemic is over by returning rakes to bunkers, sand to carts, coolers to carts and pencils/scorecards to carts.
Great
great staff great layout, great shape.. nice gem in vegas.
Nice course
Only complaint was they were aerating the front nine and there was no prior notice.
Great golf course
National is always a good time and challenges you to hit a variety of shots.
Awesome course!!
After living in Vegas for 30 years, today was my first time playing this great course! It's a Vegas staple for local courses. I golfed down the fairway the plane landed on in the movie Casino. Golfed next to the Maine Casino home and surrounding property. It was nostalgic!
The course was in great shape! The fairways green and fast, the greens the same. Bunkers were scattered all over the course and so many pine trees lined the fairways.
The clubhouse has good breakfast and all around a good menu for after your round.
I highly recommend hitting this course if you can when you visit here!
Sad what happened to this place
Pretty good design that is in poor shape. Lots of potential with this property, but greens were slow and bumpy, fairways shaggy, and rough spotty. A nice touch that had been added since the previous time I played was the addition of signs highlighting various celebrities' homes around the property. Course has a lot of significant history, is home to the Las Vegas Hall of Fame, has hosted major tournaments in the past - the potential is there. But there's not much investment into course maintenance. And sadly, not much investment into the houses around the course (though that's not the course's fault). At least half the houses were abandoned or in serious need of repair (one had been turned into a UNLV frat house). So much lost potential here.
Long Course
Had a fun round during this COVID-19 reopening. 104 degrees with a slight breeze. No one in front or behind us. Long fairways with enough water, rough, trees & bunkers to keep you on your toes!
Great Value & Love the History
The Club house has great memorability and the history of this storied course. Great value. Only thing is please clean up the trash in the wash that runs though it. It looks to have been there for a long time.
