Palms Golf Club
About
Palms Golf Course is a championship course that combines desert and traditional golf. Formerly called Peppermill, the course is Mesquite's oldest 18-hole course and offers one of the city's most unique rounds. The course is truly like playing two courses in one. The front nine has a classic design with fairly flat and open fairways that give way to tight, tree-lined driving areas. Save for one hole, water comes into play on every hole on the front nine starting with the second, which is the course's no. 1 handicap. Water can be found along the entire left side of the fairways and you'll also face a pair of bunkers guarding the right side and three more behind the green. The elevated tees on the back nine provide scenic views of the desert terrain covered with sagebrush and tumbleweeds, a dramatically different landscape that the previous nine.

2 courses in 1
The road into the course is a little rough, but upon arriving the course was very enjoyable. 1st time golfing here and we were still on cart-path only but the front nine is quite open and a great warm-up for the back nine which is set through-out the hills. The back has some very nice views and some great challenges. Course is in great shape but the greens were quite slow but were consistent.
Course reseeding
Whole course had been reseeded, so cart path only for carts, greens were longer but otherwise a good day.
very good course, back nine a little harder
like playing this course and have over the past 14 years
Tourist "unfriendly"
We have been playing casablanca/palms every time we have come to mesquite during past 15 years. After this season it will be our last until they change their new "unfriendly" customer focus.
1) last year had a discount card - no such thing 2016. Told new one in the works. .. if so why cancel existing one until new offer in place?
2) this year course closed (5pm) announcement was made ( with over 30 minutes of light remaining in the day. We were on way to 17 tee .. no such luck ... they had blocked the path. Understand fully the gamble one takes when playing twilight. .. but to shut down before sundown .... rather rude!!
3) no one in pro shop to give a comment to (wasn't even 510pm) or even an email contact on the website to send comment to.
I work at a course an feel relieved we don't take our guests forgranted or treat them like mesquite gaming has decided to do!!
We are here for 6 weeks and with all the other options available .... strongly advise folks there are better options than casablanca/palms. Neither Conestoga or Falcon Ridge gave us a "closed now leave" ultimatum and frankly these courses are way better value for the price!!!
Decent Play in Mesquite Area
Course was in decent shape with good green speeds.....anticipated worse but greens were really pretty nice. Although conditioning can be sketchy at this course it was in much better shape than when I last played it two years ago. A fun track to start out with on a desert golf trip. Palms is one of the older courses in the Mesquite area and has an interesting back nine which we played as first nine. Pace of play can be an issue at this course as well. Overall a shade above three stars.....course is worth about $50 for the area but they charge much more than that (if it was in Chicago it be well under $30). The water hazard on 17 (our 8th) was completely dry. Enjoyable desert golfing.
Great day of golfing.
Great course, greens were a bit furry. Wonderful back nine, the best around!
Awesome back nine
We totally enjoyed the course. They were having a special on domestic beers for a buck! Can't ask for anything more than that!
two different nines
front nine was ham and egg while back nine was like playing another course. grass could have been better taken care of or mowed better. great views on back nine and challenging holes to place drives. almost no sand in the bunkers.
had a nice time
we had a very good experience! pace of play was slow. there was no marshall to speed up play!
Fun landscape
Several blind shots from tee or into greens. Did not always guess correctly and the course could be better marked. Some tee shots up hill and some down hill. The course was a lot of fun.
Fun course
I'm a beginner, so this course is my favorite so far. The views are fantastic! And I have a lot of fun on this course, never rushed and very friendly staff
Summer in the Desert
Golfnow offer seemed to indicate 18 holes. Had a noon tee time and was informed st course that I had to be off the course by 2pm closing time. Could not complete 18 in 2 hours. Understandable times for 100° conditions but would have liked to know beforehand via Golfnow site.
Still good bargain even for 9 holes.
Spent a warm morning
playing real fuzzy greens. Course has gone down hill. I played opening day many years ago at the Palms
Don't waste your time here
There are other golf courses in the area that are much better... We would never go out of our play to play this course again.. The front 9 is like playing in a cow pasture...
Palms First time
The Palms Course is challenging, with some interesting picturesque holes especially on the back nine. Lots of elevated tees. It was crowded and slow. Heat is a factor, but towels and ice are provided for some relief. Cold water is available in numerous locations. Recommend going with someone who has played there before. I would go back again. Greens were in generally good condition, but slow.
So much fun
This course is so much fun. The front and back are like two different courses. The front is park style and the back has elevation changes and canyons. One of my favorites.
excellent greens beautiful scenery
My wife and I had a great time. Greens are great, friendly staff and we will definitely be golfing here again.
Beauty in the desert
This course is in excellent condition. Plays long due to lower elevation. Front nine flat with plenty of water and sand traps to make it challenging. Back nine has many elevated tee boxes with breath taking views. Consistent green speeds is an added bonus.
Fun course with front wide open and back more difficult
This was a great course to play with a variety of holes. The course it self was in ok conditions. It was a little dated and landscaping around course was not kept pristine. We would go back at a great rate.
