Oyster Reef Golf Course
Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.
The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,
The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Fun course but greens need work
Always enjoy playing Oyster Reef, great course layout and very friendly staff. Pace of play was unusually slow. Greens were not in great shape compared to other local courses we've played. Regardless, enjoyed the afternoon and will return.
Great Layout - Poor Greens
This is a very challenging layout, but the greens were in very poor shape with lots of bare spots.
A little beat down, but worth it.
Course was overall in good shape. The greens on the front nine were a bit rough with quite a bit of fungus on them. Greens on the back nine were much better. The practice green didn’t mimic course greens at all. Driving range was very rough. Overall, fairways and tee boxes were in decent shape. Staff was friendly. Highly recommend taking advantage of hot deals rate for this course.
My wife and I had played this course several times a long time ago. The pace of play was brutal every time and we vowed never to come back. Well, we decided to try again. The course was packed but they had a ranger moving play along. We ended up playing in 4 hours and 10 minutes. Not bad for a foursome on a heavily booked day. The fairways and greens were in good shape, The greens were in really good shape but the speed was inconsistant. We were told by our playing partners that they were replaced recently so they were not mowed very tight. The tee boxes were beat up and the rough was very hard and patchy. We will play it again in the future. But overall it was a good experience.
Still growing in
Great welcome at the bag drop, in the shop and by Dennis the Starter. Conditions are still growing in, but Oyster Reef is a challenging well thought out
layout. A great variety of holes. Pace was 4.5 hours for a 12 noon start time.
Warm Spring air should encourage the growth to bring the rest of Oyster Reef to Life
Nice round on a beautiful day
The day was gorgeous, We were paired up with another couple. Pace of play was great, and had a great time. Nice course.
Needs sun and warm weather
Dormant Bermuda fairways and greens. Very slow greens hard to read and hard to get to the hole. Needs another two weeks. . .
The course was in fair condition. The tees and greens could use some work, but it was much better than 2years ago when I played. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The pace of play was awful the front nine, but the ranger got on it and the back nine was smooth and took half the time.
Nice course in good condition. Greens are nice and not too fast. A lot of dog leg holes, but playable. Sand very strategically placed on some fairways and greens to make it a little more challenging. Need to go over water on 2 par 3s on the back, but doable for Men and Women. Looks like a lot of water on the course, but most of it does not come into play. One signature par 3 hole on the back has an ocean (or bay) view. Also has a very nice bar and patio.
Oyster Reef golf
A must play in Hilton Head. Course in great shape for this time of year. Will try and play again soon.
Oyster Reef is a must play when visiting HHI. The people are very friendly and helpful!!! The course layout provides some thinking, which I like!!! The tee boxes and some greens are transitioning grasses so they were not in the best shape but no bad at all. I will be back the next time I visit the Island!!!
