Holes 18

Length 7018 yards
Slope 137
Rating 74.7

Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Nice course layout, great greens

Layout of the course was very good. Conditions overall were good; fairways only fair (in some places) but greens were excellent.

Slow greens

The greens were extremely slow and covered with debris. This used to be my favorite coarse on the island. I have not played it in a couple years as they have increased the price considerably. I decided to give it another try, and I was disappointed.

Decent course

Course was decent, worth playing, I thought it should have been more of a $60.00 course, but golf prices everywhere have gone thru the roof. Would not pay that much to play it again but we did have a good time playing with the couple we were paired with. Just be advised that it is not a premier golf course that it may be built up to be.

Nice layout with some challenging holes

We played this course for the first time and enjoyed this course very much. We would certainly play this course again. Now that I have played this course once, I would play a few of the holes differently to stay out of some of the challenges.

Over priced

This course is not worth greens fees of $165, The greens were very slow and not in good shape. The tee boxes were all beat up and the fairways were in average shape.
I had a coupon for a 10% discount and the pro shop would not honor it because I made my reservation on line.
Overall it was a very bad experience, I've played there the year before and it was in much better place.

Not worth the price

Green fees were $165, way over priced for the condition the course was in. The fairways were not in good shape, tee boxes were all beat up, greens were running very slow and not maintained well, on one green there were mushrooms growing on it.
I presented a 10% discount card I received from my hotel and they wouldn’t honor it because I booked my reservation on line. Overall it was a bad experience and way over priced. I wouldn’t recommend Oyster Reef to anyone.

A 3-HR 9 Holes

Played here with my son this week. No course advocate to help with speed of play, backup at each hold exceeded 20 minutes, often with 3 groups waiting. Course was very shaggy. After a long 2Hr, 47Min to play the front 9, we had to leave. This was the longest 1/2 round of golf I've played in my 53 years.

Good course, overpriced

Good shape tee to green. Definitely worth playing but, like most courses on the island, overpriced.
