Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
About
The oldest course at Palmetto Dunes and is a long-time favorite on the island. This facility features an extensive lagoon system which winds through the course impacting play on eleven holes. Add some of Jones' seemingly patented bunkers and large, well-bunkered greens and you've got plenty of good golf ahead of you here.
This Palmetto Dunes Resort course is well-known for its many views of the ocean. The finest is found at the 10th hole, a par-5 on the card of 540 yards. Its green is set out by the ocean, and it takes three good shots to reach it when the wind is blowing in your face

More, much more than I expected
Considering I had played many of the islands better courses, I find it funny that somehow I overlooked RTJ. I've played The Trail in AL and this beat those courses hands down. This course is playable yet as challenging as you want it to be. It's great golf. I will play this track every time I come to the island. I'm working hard to have my family's annual (sons and grandsons) golf tourney centered on this course. Don't screw up, play this course.
tough course with an ocean view... for one hole!
this is one of the few courses in Hilton Head where you actually see the ocean (off the back of 10 green).
of the five courses we played on the island, this was the most forgiving, but was no less difficult. there are quite a few forced carries and there is plenty of water to avoid.
the most unique thing about this course to me is its routing. it plays almost straight out and then back. it was incredibly windy during our round, and the entire front nine was almost directly into the wind. that made for a lot of tough shots (especially the long par 3s). then most of the back nine the wind was at our back, which was kind of hard to adjust to.
very nice course!
beautiful course, good challenge
this was the first course of five we played in hilton head. it did not disappoint. lots of water to navigate, but a very fair setup.
like most of the courses we played, precision is at a premium. getting too far off the fairway is costly.
frankt's rtj
This is one of the best courses in SC and a bargin for the money. I have played 20+ rounds there, try to get 2 each time i am down at HHI
Just ok
The course was not worth the money. At 129$ it was not worth it. Bunkers had footprints all over them literally all over them.
Very good resort course!!
We have played this course every year on our golf trip. This year we played this course later in the afternoon and there had been a lot of play so the greens were a little rougher but certainly very playable. It's a great layout with the view of the ocean behind the 10th green. This course has a lot of very good holes and would be my favorite of the 3 at Palmetto Dunes Resort.
Challanging
Fun course. Very challenging. Need all your clubs.
Beautiful course!
I am a high handicapper but found this course very enjoyable. It gave plenty of challenges with interesting holes. I hope to play again when back in the area. The clubhouse staff was exceptionally friendly after my round.
The best of the bunch at Palmetto Dunes
One of the better experiences I had all year because I was able to take my 6-year-old son with me.
They were totally kid friendly and even had a special set of black tees just for junior golfers, which is a bonus for such a good golf course.
You can get in trouble around the track if you're not driving it well, but if you are playing well you can shoot a good number.
The par-5 10th hole is the signature as the green is right on the beach and offers neat view of the water. Will definitely go back and play there.
