Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

My first round in Florida ... never going back to PA :P Photo submitted by Eric3413 on 08/06/2013
Fungal problems on most of greens. Fairways in rough shape. No rangers or cart girl.not a walking course with long distances from green to tee. Though it is winter I would still expect better conditions. Many hole, if not in middle of fairway, ball rolls off to sides. Enjoyed the company I played with.
ccurse has a lot of character and its tough front 9 needs work on fairways back 9 is nice didnt appreciate members jumping us on hole 10 all in all enjoyed course played 3 times
Cow Pasture
Have not played much golf since my surgery last July. My boys took me to Pebble Beach and Spyglass for my 70th birthday in October. Both courses were magnificent and prestine, just like everyone had told me. Probably 2 of the nicest courses in US. Then I did a total 180 degree change to play Royal St, Augustine........the absolute worst course I have ever stepped foot on. Mud on greens with no grass, weeds around all greens. Never again!!
Dog tracks are still around
Terrible greens, course. Can be a great layout if conditions were good and course maintained which it is not.
Some tees were in need of a lot of repair. Winter conditions so grass has not yet had a chance to grow
back nine a little better
Front 9 rough. Hard turf made ball run where you did not want on several occasions.
Poorly maintained
This course may have been great at one time but lack of attention to greens and fairways have taken it's toll. A bit pricey for condition I found it in.
Getting better
Some rough seasons for conditions the past few years. So far this year there has been a very welcome improvement to fairways and greens. Even the bunkers, although in desperate need of new s sand were raked. Kudos to the ground staff. Hope it continues to improve.
