Way overpriced for what it is

Crosswinds used to be one of the best courses within the city of Bowling Green. Recently though the course has increased the greens fees to an amount that is not worth the price of play. The course has a very bland layout. The greens are tricky with slight undulations that are hard to read at times.

The biggest issue I have seen other than price is that the staff has a hard time keeping the course in good shape. You would think with the pricing that the course would be able to maintain solid conditions for a majority of the year, but that is not the case. The fairways tend to struggle from time to time and take months to grow back.

If you are playing in Bowling Green you would be better served to play another course at a better price.

Home Course

This is the nicest of the three city courses to choose from. There are several risk reward holes but the course can be bland at times. The fairways were in poor shape at the beginning of the summer because of the long winter but they were bad everywhere around this area. Have been playing this course for years now and 90% of the time the course is in good shape. Now that the summer is almost over they have the course back at fighting weight.

Good value

Course will not blow you away, but a solid play for the money. Greens are always in very good shape. Some local knowledge needed on a few tee shots. If you are driving it straight course will play easy, but you can get in trouble wuick if you are spraying it. Best public course in bowling green.

Decent municipal course

I've played here many times over they years, and it has steadily declined. This used to be a superb municipal course but the city has allowed the maintenance to drop noticeably. Tee boxes and greens were in great shape, but many of the fairways were literally hitting off dirt. Construction through a couple fairways didn't help. Staff was friendly, and value was good, including food, and beverages. Pace of play was hampered by several groups playing the back 9 only that jumped in front of us... this has happened to me several times. overall its not too bad of a course considering the cost and location.

Interesting Course

The course is suffering from a very harsh winter. Fairways are bare in places from winter kill. Greens were good and rolled true. Course required you to use all the clubs in your bag. Plenty of sand and water to deal with throughout. It would have helped to have played with someone familiar with the course, because of a few blind shots. Overall, an enjoyable day.

Beware Slow Play

Traveling cross country. Stopped for late afternoon quickie that turned into nearly five hours. Almost stopped at turn, but pressed on. Fortunately, got out prior to high school match. Posted good score despite lack of rhythm. Course has decent, but unspectacular features. If you keep it in play, you can put up a low number. Coolest thing was watching the small planes take off from the regional airport adjacent to the course-- hence, "Crosswinds" name.
