Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

This Course Is Falling Apart
Don’t waste your money, this place is in poor shape! Not worth even a hot deal. This use to be be a beautiful course it’s sad to see how this course has deteriorated!
Raspberry “Falls” From Grace
Unfortunately, this place isn’t worth the price of admission even if it is a “Hot Deal”. The course has deteriorated. The layout is still exceptional but the course isn’t well kept; divots everywhere, whole course needs fertilizer, bunkers were decrepit, tee boxes punched. This use to be a track that was worth the drive - not anymore! They tried to blame the rain on the course conditions, there hasn’t been a hurricane in the area but that what the course looks like it’s been through, whole course needs a manicure.
So fun… especially with the winds
I played the course three times this week and each day was better than the next. The entire staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. From the pro shop, to the cart attendants and starters - it was amazing. I played early and encountered groundskeepers cutting the greens and grooming the course - all were very conscious of clearing the area and killing the motors. The course overall had some dead areas and the greens had some “other grass” spots that made it shaggy. But, still beautiful and the layout makes you hit shots. There’s a par 5 on the back into the wind that took everything to get there in 3 due to the wind. So much fun. The par 3s make you hit shots. I highly recommend this course.
They’ve given up
Course conditions are terrible. For them to charge well over $100 for most of their tee times is actually insulting. I used to love this course but it has gradually gone downhill the last few years, but after hearing some positive feedback I decided to give it another shot. Turned out to be a poor decision as I will never return. This should be a $40 muni course. Not the $130+ weekend tee time it’s listed as. Don’t play here.
They should tell you they charge by the hour, not the hole. That’s only way they can justify $100+ for weekday golf. It’s expensive and slow. Lucky to get out under 5 hours. Course conditions are great. No range balls included with the golf now rate. Must be a big hit on the bottom line.
Average course for price
They have drastically raised the price with average course conditions. Fairways are fair, greens slow and non of the water containers were filled up in a warm Sunday afternoon. It is totally unacceptable when paying $100 and did not even see the cart girl. Very disappointing. We have plenty of other courses with better value and service in the area
Great course
Fantastic course layout, beautiful views and good condition. The amount of gnats and mosquitos was insane and took away from the experience. Course amenities seemed lacking, cart girl only came around once, only 2 holes had water and both coolers were empty. Range balls not included in green fee. The end of round club cleaner kid left as we finished our 18. Definitely worth playing and will be back but for the price and in comparison to other experiences in the area the overall takeaway was meh.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE
I don’t get why this place charges $100 for a course in this horrible of conditions. I’ve played here multiple times and it gets worse every year. The tee boxes are in rough shape, covered in sand. Don’t get me started on the greens, they punched them months ago and they are about the worst I’ve seen at any course in the area this year. If you can get a $40 twilight round, I’d take it, but don’t bother paying over $70 for a round. Sad to see a nice place destroy themselves. The layout is really nice, just the conditions are not it chief. Bramble ton is the best bang for you Buck around NOVA and bull Run is my all time favorite. Also I’ve been hitting off mats here for about a year now on the range. L course.
Disappointed that an aeration notice wasn't posted on the course website.
Great Twilight rate
Expensive at normal rates but the twilight rate of $50 is great value given that at this time of year, 18 holes is easily possible from one of the first twilight tee times.
Beautiful course with lots of variety. Course condition good although greens a little bumpy given recent aeration. Back 9 is a great challenge with multiple memorable holes across the 18. Pace of play was also great when we played given that it was pretty busy.
Love the course, dude the green fees!!
This was my first time back in two years, I have loved playing at RF for twenty years.. $150/$160 for a weekend round is out of whack but I guess you're getting it.
Under Repair
I would assume the course was immaculate in it's hey day. I found that it was under a lot of repairs, and was not in the shape for the cost. Different sand from bunker to bunker, not consistent. Many tee boxes unplayable. I would suspect once all the repairs are done, and in summer the course will be in much better shape. But there should be a huge price break for its current shape.
Special track
This course is a gem! Play it if you get the chance. Lovely layout and great conditions for winter grass. The land has character!
Raspberry Falls - Awesome Course
This course is pleasantly challenging. Greens are challenging to read and very slow. Awesome views, especially from Hole 3 and get ready for a tough Par 5 on Hole 18. The staff is AWESOME. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating and strive for everyone playing the course to have a good time. Will definitely be back.
Packed in like sardines
I've played this course before and it's been busy. But you don't think it's always going to be like that, right.?
This was the worst. Groups so packed together. We were either waiting or having balls hit into us.
I told the clubhouse people that I was just too packed and I was told that's just the way it is. We've got to make our money. Literally saying that they have to do it to make money.
Golf is supposed to be relaxing and fun and this was neither that sounds like they plan to keep it like that. What a bummer!
