Great course...lousy condition
What a shame ! The course is both challenging and scenic (for a single digit Hcp) . The price was great but the condition of the course would not want me to come back. I'm not just talking the dry conditions. It seems that there is no maintenance done at all on the course.,
My son and i played on a Saturday and there were few people on the course. A fivesome let us go ahead of them and we finished 18 in under 3 hours. The Mountain course wasn't in great shape but Lake was better. The staff was very friendly and gave me the current promo rate which was lower than my booked rate. It was great fun and an excellent value. I will definitely go back. This course is showing it's age and the effects of the drought but what do you expect for Southern California in August?
Needs some work but pace is great
For The coupon discount it is a good value
No crowds at all on weekdays so pace of play is great
I wish they would spend some more money but I enjoyed myself
Needs great attention
The tee box's were in terrible condition, you need long tees so your ball is above the grass. Fairways are not mowed to the proper height that fairways should be. Many times I could not see the ball as the fairway grass was higher then the ball. Greens are being work on. No fresh water for drinking on the course. Ball washers were totally dry. Ruff areas need major attention, dead trees and brush. I use to play this course when it was a 4 star course. It is not on my list to go back and play.
Could be better
Course was a good value and I thought it was cool that they had 3 different 9 hole options. My friend said his favorites were MOUNTAIN and LAKE, although he didn't like VALLEY at all. We unfortunately were sent on VALLEY first and I could tell why he didn't care for it. VALLEY was over grown with weeds everywhere. I'm not a great golfer but I'm not horrible either, and due to the over grown edges of the course I lost 12 balls in 9 holes. Whereas on the LAKE course I didn't lose a single ball. It seemed a lot cleaner and more maintained. We didn't get a chance to play MOUNTAIN due to a tournament that slowed down the day drastically, but other than that it was a fun day. I would recommend Moreno Valley Ranch for the value, LAKE course, and the supposed favored MOUNTAIN course. I will return to give it another shot.
Cause is in fair to poor condition
If you want a cheap value 18 holes then it's ok. You get what you pay for. The greens although not great were the best part of the course and they were not great by any sense of the word. The tee boxes were in very poor condition. The fairways were actually in reasonable good shape the toughs are all types of grass and weeds. Again if you pay less than 20 bucks for a round it's not bad for the money. But I would never pay more than that and this would be for a weekend rate.
A shadow of it'so former self
Do not play the valley course, it was soaked and needed mowing. Easy to lose a ball in the rough and what used to be sand traps. Played the lake course on the back 9, better than the valley but nothing to write home about.
Try it yourself
Definitely is a fun course to play. However, if your like me and you never know which swing is going to show up. This course can prove very challenging. Narrow fairways, fairways with various lie angles, and fairways that run off to either side. A place you do not want to be, considering the lack of course upkeep. The course website shows a much different place. You do not get what you see from the website. If so, I would say quite the opposite. Was watching a groundskeeper mow the tee boxes and noticed that thicker grass just got ran over returning to its foot long length once passed. It has so much promise, but it's obvious that ownership just doesn't want to put their efforts into it. It's sad. Rate from GN for $25 and 27 holes definitely reflects this courses current conditions. Would be an amazing place if course management was improved. This was my third time playing it and the worse I've seen it. Don't just take my word for it, give it a shot. You'll never know til you do. Would have posted pictures, but there golf advisor doesn't allow for the phone. Happy golfing!
Save your money
Not one hole had a water jug or ball cleaners. Fairways were poor, sand traps were really concrete traps with weeds growing & one had a bench sitting next to it some kids must have positioned, but goes to show no employee is working to make it an enjoyable experience.
Good condition generally.
Green is needed more control. A little bit of tough.
Pete Dye should be alerted.
I don't where to begin. I got a refund after 2 holes. These were THE WORST conditions I have ever seen in 20 years of playing golf. A real shame because it is a beautiful design. Weeds EVERYWHERE. The bunkers even had weeds. This course should be closed or charge only 15 dollars to play. I really hope you post this. The last time I gave a bad review it was ignored. I recommend taking it off Golfnow, it's bad for your reputation.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!
AHOY THERE ALL GOLFERS AVOID AT ALL COST. WORST COURSE I HAVE PLAYED EVEN COMPARED TO MUNIS. DON'T BE FOOLED. THERE'S NO BARGAIN HERE EVEN FOR 27 HOLES. MY GOLFING BUDDIES PLAYED THIS COURSE A FEW MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS IN FAIR CONDITION. BUT EVEN THEN WE NOTICED COURSE CONDITION WAS ON ITS WAY DOWN.
Had a great day of golf.the course was challenging and was overall in good condition considering our drought. I purticullary enjoyed the long fairways using my driver to its fullest. Nice course!
Greayout value, poor conditions
This is a really good course layout, but the conditions are pretty bad. It is obvious they are only maintaining the tees, fairways and greens, anything else is either dead or overgrown. So, if you keep it in the short grass you are OK. The value was great because Golf Now had a hot deal for $12 including a cart.
Absolutely deploable course conditions on the Valley course.
Mountain Course was ok.
Lakes Course was in rough shape.
Shame really because the layout of the course is great. Just not maintained!
i played these courses when they first opened years ago,and they were really nice. have played them a few times more and they have become progressively worse over the years. weeds everywhere, totally overgrown and not maintained at all. it is a shame. i don't know how this place stays in business with these conditions.greens were ok,but not great as well.the only reason my buddy and i went there was that we played the three courses for $30.! the drive to get there was really not worth it. probably never again.
Great course turned okay.
When MVR first opened it was one of the great courses in So Cal. It has, probably due to the economy, deteriorated. It could use some sprucing up but doesn't seem like they can afford to do it. The greens for the most part aren't bad, and the fairways have grass. The bunkers no longer have sand, which seems to be the case at a lot of courses these days. The layout is still great, and the staff friendly. I will play here again though wouldn't make it my home course. All in all if you want a fast round for a good price, here it is.
