This is the kind of place the locals actually play. The kind of place that offers regular Sunday champagne brunches and New Year's Eve parties in the clubhouse. Mesquite's low green fees bring them in (under $100 even in Palm Springs' ultra expensive peak season). Its mountain backgrounds and golf along the bottom of a streambed are what bring them back.
Mesquite Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs isn't a long course by any stretch of today's standards. It comes in at 6,312 yards from the back tees. Locals find that fits just right. Again, it's Palm Springs. Many of the locals are cashing retirement checks between drives. A little shorter does not necessarily mean uninteresting though.
There are eight small lakes out on Mesquite and when the water's running in the stream it plays with some kick. At the same time, it's very friendly to women, seniors, anyone who finds distance to be a challenge. The 366-yard par-4 ninth is illustrative of a course that regularly lets average hackers go for the green.

slow play no marshall
it was slow as a 5some of new golfers ahead
nice back nine, greens great, overall will play again
Player Control
A 5 some group of inexperienced courtesy-deficient amateurs held up play and forced us to quit with 4 holes to go.
Nice public course
If you like a more wide open course, this is a good option. Greens were quick. Staff friendly.
Course Conditions
The greens were very dry. The fairways were not well maintained.
Old Course
Average at best. Only one poor gal checking everyone in. No starter. Start whenever regardless of tee time. Club house smells like an outhouse. Course in average condition. Sure wouldn’t pay any more than $50
Must Read!
Course has no cart girl, no drinking water, the pace of play was very slow and the greens were in horrible condition. The expectation of a golf course in this area are high and this course did not meet those expectations.
I Ready like this course.
The course was in wonderful shape and I really enjoyed playing it. My friends and I come here every year from Kansas City and we will consider playing here again. There were some places under construction, but will would like to see them when we return. Hopefully, see you again next year.

Not bad, not great
For the money (relatively) not a bad track. Lots of scrubby waste land to lose a ball in. Two greens had large piles of dirt on them. Lots of loud and sketchy looking bridges on this course. Showed up on time but start time was already 15mins behind at 8:30pm.
Its a good course if you are on a tight budget. Reality is you are still golfing in Palm Springs and NOT paying $100 plus US funds for 4 hour of enjoyment with your wife.
Old Stand-By
Course conditions are in decline. Money talks. But we always enjoy Mesquite. Friendly staff, great starter.
Crazy windy!
Wind was howling for most of our round. Palm tree fronds were blowing off the trees. Made for very difficult play. We do enjoy this course and have played here many times.
Course review
Speed of the greens and in most part the shape was as good as anywhere. The course itself could use some TLC tee boxes and fairways.
Tired but cheap
The course and clubhouse were pretty tired. Looks like it has not been kept up for quite a while. The staff in the clubhouse (never did see a starter) and the couple I was paired with were both a pleasure.
