18 hole cow pasture
The greens were fair the rest of the course was in horrible shape. They make no effort to make the fairways any nicer than the rough. Only reason I played this course was because I mistakenly purchased the wrong tee time.
Great Public Course
Fairways and greens in great condition!
Super friendly staff.
Not great
Course was not in the best of shape. I'm sure some of this can be attributed to the heat. Some dead areas on the greens. More hardpan than actual rough off of the fairways. And the course is covered with holes from burrowing animals.
Watch Your Step!
I played Bing yesterday only because I had no other options due to first tee tournaments. This was my first time back since an "incident" here that I will detail later. Yesterday, the weather was perfect, light breeze, mid 70's, no clouds, great day. I call in and ask how busy the course is. Pro shop says I can fly through, no one on. I get there five minutes later and wait 20 minutes to play behind a very slow foursome who is playing behind another slow foursome who... etc. There may not have been a huge wait but the course was clearly full and they were doing nothing to properly stage starts.
Moving on, the fairways are in rough shape. I would say they most resemble the quality of a soccer field in a city park. You can literally lose your ball in the middle of the fairway. They seem to be having serious drainage issues, the greens a slow and bumpy and the bunkers are filled with some kind of sludge.
finally, my "incident" here was a broken ankle. While walking through the rough here back in February, I stepped in a gopher hole and broke my ankle. Buyer beware, sure but this is a serious and prevailing issue at this course. There are gofer holes EVERYWHERE as soon as you step off the fairway. Combine this with the lack of mowing they do and they can be impossible to see. I literally tread with great caution overtime I'm an inch off the fairways. It's unacceptably dangerous and hazardous to the point where I think it could possibly be considered a negligence issue.
Terrible maintenance!
It was like playing in a cowpasture! The fairways were so bad you could lose a ball, in the middle of the fairway through a gopher hole, or on mowed grass! Are used to Play here years ago, and was always in pretty good condition. I don't know what happened, but I felt like I really wanted my money back
Only 9 open
The course only had nine holes open and they could've emailed me as a customer to tell me that they only had nine open and I could've went someplace else and also they let people with non-golf attire on the course and the pace of play was slow
Back 9 only
The front 9 was closed to play and I was not told that when I booked it. I played the back 9 to try to get an idea of what the tournament will be like on the 11th but only saw the back 9. Not what I wanted.

Needs Grooming
First time at Bing. My first impression was a cool, 50's vibe. Great looking, mid-century club house. It's right next door to an executive airport so planes are flying overhead constantly and the drive into the club house splits several fairways which combines to give one a feeling of being somewhat exposed I guess? Kind of weird. Course layout is average, classic style american course. No real water to speak of, some obstacles created by air traffic control beacons. The 12th was indeed a challenging hole! Overall, the course did not drain well and was just... kind of dirty. Standing water, leaves everywhere made it difficult to find a ball in the fairway. Bunkers were fairly hard packed. With some love, this could be a really nice course. I bet it plays great in the summer. Buyer beware in the winter!
Wow
The course was in the best shape I've ever seen it. Immaculate. But...
When I was done with number 16 they told me they had put a modified shotgun out.
They didn't tell me this when I checked in. They said they don't know I would be done that fast evendors though they were outside hanging out when I made the turn. I was not halpy. Never had that happen before in 20 years of golf. So for 16 holes it was perfect. I did not finish because I didn't want to wait to finish 2 holes behind 4 older peoples groups.
Course conditions have fallen below avg
This is one of my neighborhood courses. To put it simply, the course has seen better times. Very patchy conditions. Some areas are parched earth, and other areas seem so be over watered. Would take much to get this place back into shape, I just think it is being managed poorly.
Great course for $13 Hot Deal
Great pace of play, 3.5 hour round with great playing partner, another single who I met on the tee box. Would definitely come back!
Bravo Bing Maloney!
I hadn't played the course in 7-8 years, and I found it to be refreshingly well maintained with cut fairways, and really nice greens. The fee to play was excellent and for the money the course could not be beat. I play a lot of courses in Sacramento and Bing has stepped up its game IMO. The pond on #3 is gone (I'm sure this speeds up play) and one or two fairway bunkers were filled in which to my delight was pleasing. Overall I had a great time and met two really nice players too boot. Again Bravo Bing Maloney!
Bing Maloney - A good-value golf course in the cernter of Sacramento
I like the new dynamic online reservation system. I believe this system benefits both players and course managers.
Here are my impression from playing Bing Maloney on 8/9/16.
PROS:
Staff: courtrous and efficient
Fairway: very good condition. Fairways are generally green and well- maintained.
Roughs: grass is cut shorter than other courses so roughs are not too punishing.
Greens: generally in good condition and well- maintained. Greens are about right, not too fast and not too slow.
CONS:
There any too many gophers holes. These holes pose dangers to golfers, and can swallow golf balls.
I beg to differ. I just played here for the first time in months and the fairways were beautiful, so lush and green. The greens were in incredible shape, true and smooth. There are some dry spots, but those are out of play unless you really spray the ball. Except for a few wet area course is in great shape
