The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club
About
The 18-hole championship course at Don Shula's Golf Club is one of those courses that just seems to get better as you play your way around.
The first few holes are fairly open and not overly difficult. However, things start to get more difficult as you continue. By the time you make it to the 11th green, you'll know that you're in for a real dogfight. The fairways on the back get tight and there's water on just about every hole. All in all, it's a very enjoyable course from start to finish.
There are tennis courts, multiplex, fitness center etc. There’s something for everyone. The hotel's onsite amenities include upscale dining at the Original Shula's Steak House and casual dinning at the Bull Pen, which serves breakfast lunch and light dinner until 7pm.

Nice course, but greens were sanded
Water available, but no lids and straws. Surely they can afford lids and straws!
Nettie35,
Thank you for reviewing Shula's Golf Club. Lids and straws always find their way on the golf course and jam up mower blades. In addition they have become harmful to native wildlife. We hope to see you again very soon.
Sincerely,
Shula's Golf Club
You get what you pay for
I booked this course the day before on Golf Now, and I was extremely happy with how easy it was to find courses, look at pictures, and also split costs with my buddies tagging along. As for as the course goes, it was in good condition and was a fun course to play for the price. The staff wasn’t exactly the most helpful, but that doesn’t really affect how I view the course since I only encountered them one time when i checked in. The greens were a bit slow and banged up, but for $30 I couldn’t have asked for much more.
Jbargfeldt19,

Historic
I've never checked in for golf at a steakhouse before. I chose this course to play because of its its historical significance. I and my brother are from Ft. Lauderdale and are lifelong Dolfans. It was best to see Shula's memory boards. The course is good for locals I would suggest. Even $54 is overpriced. Very proactive cart service. As a quick group of 2, ladies group nicely let us play through. Next ladies group let us wait. It was warm with some nice, breezy clouds. Layout can challenge with water and a few right fairways. After playing Silver Fox Doral the day before, I would have chosen to do that twice over this. Ok for a good hot deal.
lisatomlinson,

Worth it
For what you pay for this course it’s 110% worth it, also very tough back 9 !

Slow play but good greens
Started out poorly, starter informed me that the others on my tee time showed up and went early. Strange because there were multiple 4somes in front of me. A couple of singles showed up on the first tee while I was waiting so it turned out to be a good day except the very slow play. 5 hours.
Welfels,
Thank you for sharing your comments from your most recent round with us. Not sure when you started your round. On the day you played, we had cart path only restrictions on the back 9 which contributed to a slow round. We hope to see you again very soon so that you an enjoy a quicker round of golf.
Sincerely,
Shula's Golf Club
Horribly Slow
We really like this track normally, but the speed of play has gotten ridiculously slow.
No rangers in sight to help, Hackers with NO course etiquette , now added with parents trying to teach kids on the course, etc...
tvarma,
Thank you for your comments from your most recent round with us. Not sure when you played. We schedule course rangers Wednesday - Sunday. We try to identify beginners and encourage them to play later in the day so that they do not interfere with more serious golfers.

Shula's Golf Club
First visit
The course was alright, we had our round discounted through golf nows hot deal.
It was nothing to write home about, pretty much came as expected, fairly difficult if you have a bit of a slice. Greens were good
Jasonp189,

Good Value
Decent track for the price is south FLA. Play early if you want to avoid a long round.
Gclairman,
Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. We are glad that you found good value in our course. That is a great tip on playing early as we tend to get very busy by mid day. Hope to see you soon.

Good course for the money
The course was in good shape. The front side is quite a bit easier than the back. A lot of water on the back so very challenging. Enjoyed playing.
Mike6481927,
Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. Most golfers would agree with you that the front 9 is much easier than the back due to the amount of water. We hope to see you again very soon.

Nice course
Glad to get back and play after 2+ years hiatus. Well managed course, green are excellent (though a bit slow on a Friday afternoon), fairways mostly good (not lush but decent turf).

Consistently Consistent
Apart from slightly fuzzy greens and intermittent patchy brown spots that plague South Florida thinnish fairways during the winter dry season, Shula's was in predictably wonderful shape for early morning golf as our foursome sailed through the front nine before navigating between various bodies of water that dot the back nine. The pace of play was pleasantly unhurried, while Emily provided the best beverage cart service in recent memory. Pro shop, cart attendant, and starter were courteous and professional, as was our server who delivered an assortment of tasty short order lunches in the cozy snack bar. No GPS, which is par for most area courses. Hot Deals for noon-ish starts offer the best bang on the buck.
Iannertcito,

Terrible fairways
I’ve being playing this course for awhile now,and have decided it is way overrated. Greens are good but the fairways leaves a lot to be desired, there’s no reason to be in the middle of the fairway and your ball is on bare ground, same thing around the greens. It’s very frustrating when you barely miss the greens and there’s no grass under the ball. Other than that I wouldn’t mind playing this course.
Great Course
The first nine holes are easier the final nine. I have been playing golf for 8 months, so I love to play in challenging courses. There is a lot of water,!!
