You have to wait at every hole.
It’s definitely a great golf course, but the slow play on every hole is a real issue.
It’s a rather pricey place, but if they don’t manage the pace of play better, I honestly wouldn’t want to go back.
West Course
We played on an extremely busy Sunday. Tee times were delayed early due to frost. Course conditions were ok, as the fairways were not in spring shape and the greens were bumpy (mostly due to ball marks that were not repaired (c'mon people)! Staff were friendly and apologized for our almost 5 hour round. I would definitely play there again but not on weekends.
Fun course
Fairways had some bare spots but greens were pretty good for February.
we went off first tee time. They had split tees. Starter said don’t play too fast because we would have to wait till the last tee time at 10:30 to start. We came around to 10 tee . Had to wait 25 minutes. Then played behind cold golfers . It was a joke. Played 10 hole and tee off on 11. 25 minutes, the people in front of us had no idea of ready golf. And the woman walked all the way to green. Had enough and went somewhere else.
Decent winter round
A cool breezy winter day of golfing. The course was in decent shape though some greens rolled slower. The carts take some getting used to, a simple brake pedal stops and holds the cart., no extra brake pedal attached
Fairway issues
First time playing. Fairways were brown and very tight, almost like hard pan. Was told by staff, fairway sprinkler system was having problems. Greens were slow for my taste, but I did play in the afternoon. Layout and course setup was very traditional and fair. I wouldn’t pay top dollar, but I would play again when fairways come around.
Keep in mind this review is for the west course.
Nice course but Disappointing experience
I was very excited to play this course on my recent trip to Myrtle beach from Connecticut. I heard many good things about it. The course was in nice shape and the layout was good. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish all 18 holes due to darkness and slow play from the group in front of us even with a 1:26 tee time we were only able to finish 15 of 18 holes. Twice on the back nine the group in front of us held up play to buy drinks from the cart girl while in the middle of the fairway. This along with their overall slow play prevented us from finishing the full 18. I’m planned to play the Kings course in Jan but I’m not sure I will. return
MBN
First time guest from CT. Course was nice and I enjoyed playing it. We had a 1:28 tee time but unfortunately were not able to finish our round due to extremely slow play by the group in front of us. We only could play15 holes. That was very disappointing. Drink carts should end after a certain time and only be allowed at tee boxes. A delay for the drink cart in the middle of the fairway by the group in front of also contributed to not finishing as dusk was setting in. Overall a good course but not sure if I will return on my next trip in January.
Fairways
Fairways were hard panned. Some were completely burnt and the drives bounced higher than if they were frozen.
Myrtle Beach National West Course
The conditions were a mess. No grass on tees and fairways. A lot of play- 5 hr round. Greens were good..
We played North course the next day and conditions were very good on all fairways, tees and greens. It was like night and day. We can’t believe they have the same superintendent. Don’ play the West, pay more and play the North.
Great course
This course was perfect for my wife and I as the fairways are open and greens accessible perfect lay out by Mr Palmer
