Big Fish Golf Club
About
Big Fish Golf Club boasts a Pete Dye-designed championship layout. The course starts outs with a links-style front nine that is relatively wide-open and virtually treeless. There is some fescue on the front but it does not pose much of a threat. The seventh is the course's signature hole. It is a tricky par 5 that calls for creative shot-making with sand and water all along the left side. The ninth is a great finishing hole for the first half before the even more challenging and scenic back nine. One feature both nines definitely have in common is the abundance of strategically placed bunkers, including pot bunkers. The 13th hole is another of the golf course's memorable par 5s, flowing downhill from left to right and down along the right to the green, grazing a strand of mature trees.

On the way back
When Big Fish first opened, the Pete Dye designed course was a must play. Since those first few years, play has decreased and so has their money. Conditions are not as good as they once were. The new people have it coming back now, but the greens were a bit beat up and some tee boxes weren't the best. I'll play it for the right price (hot deal was $20-23 with cart). I won't pay the regular price.
This course is a great value.
A Pete Dye course for under $75 is a steal. I loved the two different sets of nine. Has a lot of risk reward holes.
Course was in great condition,
We drove 90 minutes to play, and were very happy with the course! I liked that the greens were a little slow as my game is a work in progress. Love the two very different styles on each nine. Hope to play there a couple more times this summer.
fun day at big fish
We had a fun day at Big Fish....the pace of play was good....we did not lose any golf balls....the sun was shining...and...we made a few putts...nothing to complain about
my experience
1st time playing this course. What a gem. bent greens, very hilly on the back 9, very good lay-out overall. staff very friendly. Tuesday $ 38.00 w/ cart great value ( all season long ) I'll be back.
Very scenic, very good condition
For this time of the year, the course was generally in very good condition. The greens were good, but not entirely smooth. Some were fast, others slower, so consistency was a bit of an issue.
Tough greens
I have played this course once a year for the past 4 years. The course conditions seem to be getting worse every year but it is still a good course to play if you are looking for a challenge. Every lie (even in the middle of the fairway) seems to be uneven and the greens are tough to read.
You have to play hole 13.
Links style on the front and cut out of the woods for the back. The 13th can't be described. It is a must see. A Pete Dye course. Hit the shots and you will score well. Great happy hour special everyday; two for one beers. If you are in Hayward, WI play this course instead of any other.
My very favorite course!! front 9 feels like a typical 9 hole course and the back is much more challenging and soooo pretty! Love it!
