Make sure to bring a fore caddie
It’s an interesting course as the layout isn’t complex but the rough is so thick you could be searching for your ball for 5+ minutes a hole when it’s a foot off the fairway. It kind of makes the course interesting as you can imagine kind of how a US open is played. You aren’t likely going to par when in the rough. On to the major issues: slow greens and fairway just means they cut the grass really low. Dirt spots and crab grass on fairway. But even those dirt spots were a breath of fresh air compared to the rough. To top it off a sly fox stole a hotdog out of our cart...and came back to our tee box laid down just to taunt us :)
Golf fan
First time playing this course. It is not a very difficult course. Most holes are straight forward. It is well maintained. I enjoyed playing this course. Very friendly staff.
Nice Course Layout / Very Wet
Nice course w/ really nice surrounding propoerty. Only problem was course drainage. Had some decent rain about a week ago and most of the rough was still waterlogged and essentially mud. Fairways were well maintained though.
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, we have had a very wet Spring so far which causes our course to remain wet well after the rain stops. It's still early in the growing season too which is why it takes a little longer for the course to drain. We do hope that you come back and play the course again when it warms up and dries out. Decent course, rude staff
I’ve played this course a few times but the staff working this day were all very rude. The man at the counter and the starter were unnecessarily demeaning. I’ve never had this issue coming here before. All the other marshalls on the course were fine and polite.
Course is decent. Long and straight, no hills. Rough is thick and difficult.

Check with pro shop before visiting.
I played at Algonkian couple of times and like the course structure, as well as the condition. But on the 25th of Mar, we had to play the front 9 twice despite it was clearly written 18holes in Golfnow. Also fairway grass was long, rough too long that I couldnt find my balls 2 times. It is a good course but dont visit before non season timing.
Thank you for your review. The reason why you had to play the same nine holes twice on March 25th was due to aerification of greens and tee boxes. The back nine was closed allowing for play only on the front nine. A notice was posted on our online tee time booking engine and the Algonkian GC app. We apologize for the inconvenience. It should take about 2-3 weeks to fully heal and we will begin regular fairway/rough mowing as the weather warms and the course dries. Needs a clean up
The course needs some TLC. Broken twigs in abundance that should be tended to.

Course was extremely wet which dictated cart path only protocol.

Thank you for your review. During the Winter, the grass is dormant and does not grow under a certain temperature. Thus, when we receive rainy weather for extended periods of time, it takes much longer for the course to dry out as compared to when it's the warmer season. It can take several days or weeks to fully dry from heavy rains.

First time
This is a nice easy course with little elevation change. Would be a fine course to walk. Holes were pretty basic, straight shots. Only "tough" holes were ones in the back nine that had a creek going thru the middle that you had to navigate. Otherwise, a pretty easy and enjoyable course to play.

Not thinking of playing here again
This course isn’t in a good shape for the money they’re charging. The fairways are patchy. The tee boxes look like they aren’t completely fertilized. I don’t think I will play this course again.

We recently underwent aerification of tee boxes and greens during the week of 3/25. The greens and tees are sandy/bumpy during this time. This is also a transition period for our fairways as the Rye grass begins to fade and the Bermudagrass takes over. We hope you understand and we'd like to see you back again soon. Course not busy
With golf course quite open that day, pace of play I enjoyed. The course still had holes being repaired but overall it was manageable and enjoyed the round.

Cant give 5*
A solid 4*. But, it hadn't rained in days and they still had cart path only on all holes, All par 3s tee boxes closed and had to hit up and on a mat. The carts had to be returned at 4;45. The fairways, greens and bunkers were all in very good condition.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback. Last week we received several inches of rain which is why carts were restricted to Cart Path Only. During the colder months, when the grass is not growing, it takes several days if not weeks for the course to dry out in order to allow carts to drive off the path. Our goal is to protect the grass as much as possible during the Winter months to allow for great playing conditions in the Spring. Regarding the Par 3's, the golf course is in Winter setup. This means Par 3 tee boxes are on artificial mats. We do this to keep the tee boxes in good shape during the off season. Par 3's experience the most divot wear and tear.
