Greens are extremely slow
This is a fun course with challenging tree lined fairways. The greens however are in extremely poor shape and need to be consistently rolled and mowed to make it a true test of golf.
Worth playing
An enjoyable course. Playable by all skill levels. Conditioning is excellent. Bring on a new superintendent a few years ago really transformed the course. Drainage problems were solved. Conditioning of the entire course dramatically improved. The two nines are quite different.
Front nine has some back and forth holes that ate not too interesting, but long and tree lined. The back nine has a wider variety on holes and is more interesting. . The course is a good value at the rates charged. It can sometimes get crowded and occasionally play slow.
Starter was rude and rushing us off the first tee before our scheduled tee time. There was also no notice that the greens were aerated when I booked the tee time.
Great Course, Friendly Staff
First time playing here and the course manager really made us feel welcome at check-in. The course is pretty long for a muni and I found it quite challenging with lots of wildlife everywhere we looked. Fairways are Bermuda grass and in good shape for early Spring. They had just done aeration the week prior but every course does this in the Spring so it didn't bother me. Good price/value and I would highly recommend playing here. We will definitely be back.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are glad you had a great round at the course and we hope to see you back again soon!
All in all this course is perfectly fine. The greens had just been aerated and we’re coming back but still very difficult to putt on. The fairways seemingly had not been mowed. I had many lies in the middle of the fairway where I might as well have been in the rough. Overall the course was fine but lacked any character. A lot of straight holes with no elevation change or definition. I likely won’t go back, not due to the condition, but because the course is pricier and kind of boring compared to other courses around.
Sad
Extremely sad these clowns don’t give any heads up that the greens have just been punched. And they are still charging full price? Complete waste of money and waste of 4 hours. Absolute clown show at Algonkian.
Aerification notices were placed in the pro shop and on our tee sheet for several weeks leading up to that week. We apologize if you did not get notified and we will explore other options on notifying golfers moving forward.
Slow Pace and Poor Sandtraps
Pace of play was backed up at least one foursome deep when making the turn, and there didn't appear to be a Marshall in the vicinity of the slower foursomes ahead of our group. Several sand traps were as hard as a rock; like trying to hit a ball off of cement. You can't raise your prices and not also raise the level of quality of both of these issues.
You posted two reviews within a week of each other for the one course you did like and based on your other posted reviews you should probably take up a different sport. Golf Now should really take a look at who is posting a review before making it go live.
There are way to many keyboard warriors these days bashing businesses trying to survive.
We apologize your experience was less than great. Marshals do try and monitor pace of play but unfortunately cannot be everywhere on the course at at once. Please reach out to the golf course manager if you would like to discuss your round in further detail.
Over-Priced
I would not recommend anyone spend $70 to play this cow pasture.
We are sorry your experience was not what you expected. The golf course is still in early Spring condition and If you would like to discuss your round further please reach out to the golf course manager Ryan at rcorder@nvrpa.org..
Best value in the area
Good course. Best prices. My family can go the water park while I play 18 then we can go have a picnic and sit by the Potomac afterwards…really cool place
Great day to play
Played with my son and a twosome and had a fun day playing the course. The course and fairways in general was good with the rough side manageable. The greens were great. The tee area on some holes need TLC.
Great course and great staff
Tough course, not wildly hard greens but tighter fairways and thick rough. A fun course! The Marshall was kind and great to inform on pace of play as well as when you were waiting on the back 9 start. Food was solid, driving range was ok but the course and nature along with the staff make this a must play if you want a relaxing round.
Busy day single golfer
Fit me in with a group of 3 on a busy day - fun course. Lots of bugs around was the only detractor.
US Open Rough!
Hey Loudoun County, lay out the money for a new tractor to cut the grass! Literally was 5”- with no 1st or 2nd cut. Other than the tee boxes needing to be cut down, the course and greens are in good shape. Great staff!
Winter Par 3’s way too short
Course is in good shape. Front 9 is a little boring and repetitive. Greens and pin placements were tricky. Main dislike was the shortened par 3 holes. I think they were all shortened to 100 to 130 yards.
The course does have temporary tees when we are on Winter rates December-February. Hope to see you back again soon now that we are back to our regulars setup.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a positive review and Your feedback helps us to improve in the future. We hope you enjoyed your round and will come back and play again soon.
