Great Escape and Smiling Faces
Just want to send my appreciation to all of the Cowboys’ staff in how they offered an outdoor sanctuary that was safe, compliant, and rejuvenated the soul under the current circumstances. Thank you all!
Great place to be
Had a an awesome time playing there. Amazing course conditions considering it was late February.
Worth the Money
I typically can't justify spending as much for a round of golf, but Cowboys is worth every penny. The course is in great shape year round, and you just can't beat the all-inclusive set up they have. Make sure you arrive early enough to take advantage of free breakfast before you tee off and again for lunch after the round! I'd go back just for the jalepeno dogs at the comfort station on hole 8!
VIP Experience at Cowboys
For years I've been wanting to try Cowboys. Finally, my buddy scored a deal to get the VIP package for $99. At that price, it's a steal. 18 holes of great golf and food/non-alcohol drinks are included.
On this particular day, there was an hour frost delay so our tee time was an hour late making our chances of finishing before dark pretty slim.
The course is a good blend of challenging and playable. There are some fun short par 4s (always my favorites), and most of the par 5s are nearly reachable. Even if you're not a long hitter you won't be miserable.
The conditions were very good. For the most part, the fairways are welcoming and the rough isn't too bad. The greens are where the challenge comes in. They are fast and slippery. #3 is a beautiful mid-length par 3 over water... the green is wide and has multiple tiers side to side. If you are in the wrong spot, it's an easy 3 putt. I was on the wrong side of the hole and missed a 3 footer for birdie.
Pretty much everything about this place is first class. If you don't get a deal, it is a bit pricey, but if you aren't in Dallas very often I think it's worth it. There are a lot of great courses in the DFW area, but Cowboys is really something special: both the course and the experience.
Impressive but a few issues to be corrected
First time to play here and was impressed for the most part about this entire facility. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The course was in tip top shape and greens and fairways were well kept.
Unfortunately they need a marshal out here. I was behind a group of 6 total players, not four that were playing best ball. So it took some time. Finished right at dark and was quite surprised we made it that far. Also the cart girl only dropped by once at hole number five.
I will still go back but for the money you would expect pace of play and cart assistance to be addressed. Otherwise the course and especially the food is quite amazing.
Could be perfect....
We paid 70 for a round. While the layout of the course is very nice and the topography is great the condition of the course was very poor. The greens were very soft and most of the tee boxes were in really bad shape. It is a public course but for the money they charge I expected much more. The pace of play was awful and had we not skipped the last few holes it would have been a 5.5 hour round. I would have been upset if I paid the 200 via the course website. I would play this again but it would have to have a significant improvement in the shape of the course. If you are in Dallas and want to play I would recommend it at a fair price.
Cowboys Course
I’m far from a Dallas Cowboys fan, but this was a great day. The staff were friendly and very professional. The facilities were first rate.
The course was in very good shape and was a lot of fun to play. The greens were showing the obvious extensive play over the summer and the ball mark damage was everywhere.
I’m glad I played it and recommend others play it for the novelty.
Excellent course
Course is excellent and in great condition. Negatives - only saw the drink girl twice and both times it was within 150 yards of the halfway house. Also, somehow we were behind a fivesome on a Friday morning. Never saw a marshall. Pace of play was horrific. Positives - staff was great. Facilities are awesome.
Awesome course w/cool memorabilia
I played college golf years ago so I’ve played some really nice courses in my day. This ranks top 5 as far as layout, and top 3 or so as far as condition! It was in immaculate shape, and the free drinks & food w/the purchase of a round was a nice touch. Plus the on-cart GPS was like having your own caddie. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a challenging course, and a great layout. It’s a must play for anyone who is a cowboys fan!
This course is fun
Course was in great shape, the staff were extremely nice and attentive. Pace of play was slightly over recommended 4 hrs 15 minutes. Be prepared to see and hear planes flying overhead throughout the round.
Incredible golf; incredible deal
Great golf course and great staff. Beautiful layout with a variety of challenging holes. Course suffered from lots of rain and drainage issues. Fee is all inclusive—lunch included, range balls, etc. can’t beat the deal anywhere.
Still #1
A buddy of mine flew in from the Northeast to play 4 days’ (fri (18), sat (36), sun (36), mon (18)) worth of golf. We played Cowboys (x2), Texas Star, Coyote Ridge (x2), and Tierra Verde. I will compare them with a few different reviews, but to short and sweet, they are all ridiculous courses and even in March had great conditions, you can’t go wrong with any.
We played Cowboys all day (36) on Sunday. We got there for breakfast, played 18, had lunch and a few drinks, played 18 more then stayed after for dinner. If you break that down it turns $250 into an actual decent deal and you get a, superior to most, golf course as cowboys is #1 for a reason.
The staff are amazing from the great young ladies working the bar and carts to the pros hop team to the management. The food is top notch and ill give you an example. When my buddy comes down we play all day and the loser after 36 pays for dinner and drinks the rest of the night. The loser picks where to go. Friday (the day before) I won and chose Perry’s steakhouse which was excellent and expensive, so I made losing to me hurt even more. When we were done with cowboys and I was again victorious, I chose to stay at cowboys since I knew their 7oz filet was awesome from previous experience. The meatballs and devilled eggs are some of the best I’ve had in Dallas. The food is really good for any of the meals. Just make sure you take advantage of it or you are missing out.
The course was in great shape from tee to green, no complaints at all. Having played there a few times before I know the greens will be faster in a few weeks but still rolled true and were quick. The driving range is spectacular complete with bunkers at varying distances, that’s right bunkers down the driving range to hit around and practice your target golf shots. The clubhouse is an experience of its own and you will take a few pictures of the memorabilia and trophies.
Jerry does it right and ill be back many times. Plus, during the week, they really show their appreciation to military with $99 greens fees. Being a military man myself I cannot express how appreciated that gesture is. Thanks for the great time and ill be back in about a month when my 4-some convenes to take over Dallas golf for a few days.
Nice layout
Course had a nice layout with numerous elevation changes. However course appears to be over played. Tee boxes were thin with grass and lots of sand on them. Pace of play was painfully slow.
What a Valentine’s gift
My wife took me out. Which was a great gift!!! Amazing Amazing Amazing. If it wasn’t for the bit of gusty wind on front nine it would have been flawless. Food!! Wow!! Service!! Wow!! For the love of Golf!! Play this and experience this course. Thank you
