Brooksville Country Club
About
Brooksville Country Club offers a uniquely scenic experience with a rolling landscape covered with live oaks and remnants of the abandoned limestone mine still present throughout. The surroundings are unlike any other golf courses in central Florida, which has made it popular amongst both locals and visitors. Besides the beautiful scenery, the terrain provides dramatic elevation changes that make each hole unique. The traditional layout features contoured, rolling fairways and four memorable holes that play along and through a century-old quarry. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging as you head towards the back nine, which was designed by Bobby Weed. It is a layout that demands precision and rewards skillful shotmaking. In addition to the unique setting and challenging design, Brooksville Country Club also boasts immaculately conditioned fairways and greens.

This quarry hoole will challenge your driver and mid irons. Photo submitted by Edsgolfin on 10/18/2012
Poorly maintained
GP should be ashamed for promoting this course. I could play a cow pasture in better shape. Greens are horrendously bad, fairways are even worse. Try finding a blade of grass to hit off of. The only redeeming quality is 2-3 holes on the back that have a great view. They are ruined by the atrocious condition of the course. Only thing good was the restaurant and the staff at dinner. We were a group of 6 who play all over the country as we travel. By far the worse course we've played in 10 years. I cannot believe people pay to be a member.
I got my money's wotth
I was happy with my experience. $35 was a fair price. Silverthorne & Oak Hills greens were in better condition. I will be back.
Patchy Greens
I always enjoy playing Brooksville. Been doing it for years. The only trouble I had this time was the greens are really inconsistent. Some were fast and some were slow. A couple were kind of rough. Forget about putting on 18 !!!!
Tough Quarry Holes
We started off as a twosome. Had to hook up with the twosome in front of us after 4 holes. There was a Five some in front of them that was slowing down play. There should never be a five some on any golf course unless the course is not busy which was not the case yesterday.
2 different courses
This is one of my favorite local courses since I started back golfing. The front nine is fun and pretty normal for central Florida golfing, lots of big oaks with a lot of spanish moss. If you get in the trees recovery is difficult. Then, the quarry holes on the back nine are like playing a totally different golf course. It is like a mountain course. They are challenging and stunning.
Now, I have to point out that a few greens are in pretty rough shape, but I believe they will come around. But, I want to give an honest review.
I would recommend this course to anyone. For the money it is a lot of fun. Try it once and then be the judge.
Brooksville
Very nice layout. Greens and fairways in need of some TLC.
Course Distressed
The front nine seems to be severely dried out. The front nine greens were very thin with a lot of bare spots. The back nine was in much better shape.
Brooksville country club avoid
I played this course in 2022 and it was an e joyable experience. Now, not so much. The greens were in bad shape. Very rough and sparse. They had spread sand on them and painted it green. The fairways, like the greens, were very sparse also. Hard to find grass on the fairways. The yee bixes seemed to be the only thing about the course that seemed to be kept up. Liked the layout but needs LOTS of TLC before I would recommend it.
Great all around Value and loved the layout
Great value and layout. Quarry holes were the best part.
But- No drink cart at all????????? So BYOD
Great food
Great round of golf Stayed for lunch Staff was very friendly and food was excellent
The front nine is nice and wide open and easy to play. But get ready for the back nine which is very challenging with very large hills and valleys. The greens are average and need al little TlLC the 18th green was really bad. All in all would play again
New Owners Trying To Improve
Although the new owners efforts to improve the facility are showing (I. e. Restaurant and new pickle ball courts) The golf course has a long way to go. Efforts there have begun but the course condition is fair at best. Sparse grass in fairways, most greens are in terrible shape (some with many bare, sandy areas where grass is void and that I is the case on many teeing areas as well. Many tees need to be leveled and sodded as they are bare as well as being uneven/not flat with mounds all over them . The saving grace for the golfcourse is the unique, for Florida, holes around the quarry area, including tee boxes with elevations uncommon for Florida. Lots of potential but needs a lot of work done on the course. Hopefully the improvements will come to be, with time…
