10 years away from golf
Have played about 6 times in the last 5 months. Prior to that, I hadn’t played for approximately 10 years, when I was playing 2-3 times per week, but not really getting any better, so literally turned my back on the game. Had played Meadowlark during that time, and it beat me up. I am now retired, and have immersed myself into golf, and enjoying it more now, than ever. This time, Meadowlark did not beat me up. It still beat me, but not as bad as before. My game is much better at this time of my life, and I am much more relaxed. Had a great time with my son, and two guys that joined us, and they were awesome, and so was my day.
Great to hear you're getting back into the game! Really appreciate the kind words about our course here and the 5-Star rating. Looking forward to seeing you out on the course more in the near future!
Thank you for the 4-Star rating!
Thanks for the 4-Stars!
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a 3-Star rating. Looking forward to meeting your expectations and adding a couple more stars the next time you visit!
Thanks for the 5-Stars!
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a 3-Star rating. Hoping to provide an even better experience the next time you join us for a round!
Please drain your course
I haven’t played this course in a couple of years, it rained over a week ago and there was so much standing water. I don’t understand why they couldn’t try to drain some the water out
You're absolutely correct about the standing water recently. Unfortunately with our over 100 year old course, there is almost no drainage. When the water table rises, standing water can happen quick. We do our best to reduce irrigation and minimize watering whenever possible but we still end up with some soggy spots during the winter months. Hopefully you will give us another shot when the weather warms a bit.
Thank you for the 4-Star rating!
We appreciate you taking them time to leave us a 3-Star rating. Hopefully next time you join us we will meet your expectations even more!
Flooded fairways
I played Meadowlark on 1/7/24 and the majority of the fairways were underwater. I don't recall it raining recently so obviously the course doesn't drain well at all. Even with all that water on the course they are still charging $83 which makes no sense to me. OK course and very overpriced, stay away in the winter!
Our drainage is certainly an issue we fight throughout the winters here. Unfortunately when the course was built in 1922, drainage was not a part of the construction. We do our best to pump water out of areas and create drier conditions but things are certainly soggy during the winter/rainy times. We hope you'll come join us for a round once the weather turns and we get some warmer temps.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a rating. Although it looks like we fell short of your expectations, we hope you will give us another chance to prove we can do better!
Meadowlark golf
The course was a little muddy due to the rains. overall course and greens were good.. pace of play was a little slow due to the walkers
Thanks for the 4-Star rating and kind words. Once we get past the rainy season and things can dry out a bit, pace gets much better as we don't have designations for carts and more riders than walkers. Hope to see you soon!
Meadowlark
Outdated course on a trailer park, starter is an a-hole, $85 for what looks like a club that popped in the 70s and hasn’t seen an update since. They almost “last called” me 5 mins early and made the 2-some I was playing with wait 15 mins for us because they showed up 15 mins early. Course was dead empty mid-day Saturday. Improve the clubhouse and gentrify what could be an excellent muni/players club with an on-site restaurant, membership options, etc or charge Costa Mesa CC prices.
AVOID FOR MONTHS
This course is one of the favorites in the area for me. Today I paid $85 for punched greens and lakes/mud in 90% of fairways. This course needs an estimated 35K invested in it before it’s nice again. I’m on 15 currently and have lost 5 balls that would be in the fairway. Avoid until this can make massive improvements.
Fun course
The course itself is fun, challenging and has a good mix of hole lengths and difficulties. Greens were punched and aerated but still rolled alright. We got a free drink ticket because of the greens so at least they took care of their patrons and were honest about what to expect. We will definitely play here again
Played in the rain course held up well though. Got a good deal off GOLFNOW was worth the price
Thanks for the 5-Stars and the kind words!
