Mothers Day at Deere Run
I really like the layout of the course! The negatives for the day were the wind with gusts up to 20 mph, seemed like it was very steady anytime I was playing into it which magically seemed like all the time in the long par 4’s.
I had no choice but to play them as par 5’s!
Rough was extra long as well due to the rain the area had received lately. To top it off some areas of the fairway were being repaired to prepare for the tournament I would guess.
None the less I like the layout of the course and feel if I were playing without the constant wind I would have more opportunities to score. Looking forward to playing on a calmer day.
TPC Deere Run
WOW! What a course!!! Absolutely beautiful- even with some renovations happening on the back 9. Staff, pro shop, and course top notch! So cool to play a TPC where the pros play every year. Had a chance for a birdie and the greens ate me up = par.
Such a fun course will make an annual trip to the Quad Cities to play here again. After a wonderful day on this course head 7 minutes up the road to Frank’s Pizza to cap off a great day!
Thanks TPC Deere Run; see you soon!
I don’t like surprises when I drive 5 hours to play
I booked the round to play TPC Deere Run and travelled to Illinois from Michigan to play it.
When I walked in the Person in the pro shop said we could only play the front 9, but could play it twice.
THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMMUNICATED WHEN I BOOKED IT. On top of this disappointment, greens crews were working around / other greens.
This is a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!
This course is awesome
I had a great time and can’t wait to go back and play again. The only bad thing was the last 4 holes were under repair.
Great Course
It is a great course! Paying $119.00 + tax and not getting to play the final 3 hole due to construction really sucked.
Great course at a decent price. Would have liked to have played the last four holes but they were under construction and unavailable.
Great Course, Hit it Straight. First Time here
A 71 par course with THICK rough. The course is very fair and was a great experience. It is a good experience for all levels, but the rough will penalize you everywhere.
The Front nine has a great arrangement of holes with the only par five being the second hole. This personally being my favorite on the front. The tee shot has to be a well struck ball to put you in a position to reach in two. The hole is called the Colonel Davenport and has a nice old time barn behind the green. The water placement on the left of the fairway up to the green makes you consider going for it or being smart and laying up.
The back nine would be easier of the nine in my opinion and gives you a chance to score. The last hole was my favorite of the course, due to a narrow landing area and water up along the left side 60 yard and to the green .
The course was in great condition and the greens were rolling at a 10'5. The greens have subtle break which allows you to score well and go low as long as you hit fairways and greens.
I will be making a yearly trip to this course, highly recommend.
This was my 5th trip around TPC Deere Run, but my first visit in several years. As always, I was treated with an impeccably manicured course that is also a really great design.
First off, you'll notice this isn't a resort golf course. The fairways are plenty wide, but if you miss them, you'll be faced with PGA Tour level rough! The agronomy team really nails the tour experience in terms of playing conditions.
The greens are fast and true, but aren't overly sloped, relying more on general gradients and subtle movement. This doesn't mean they are easy, but putts can definitely be made!
After the round, my friends and I were discussing the course and we concluded there aren't any bad holes on the property. No two holes feel the same!
I have two favorite holes, though I could pick several more. The downhill 14th is a short par that the really long hitters can reach. For the rest of us, it's a matter of deciding how aggressive we dare to be. Anything from birdie to triple is possible here. My other favorite hole is the 17th, which is a shortish par 5 with great bunkering to challenge you, whether you go for the green or lay up.
I can't recommend TPC Deere Run highly enough. It's really fun, and presents a strong challenge. My only complaint/warning is that the food and beverage sold on course is very expensive. But that is only a minor detraction from a great overall golf experience.

A Real Tour Experience for a Real Bargin
Playing a TPC course is typically not a cheap experience. Their flagship course, Sawgrass is now over $500 a round in peak season. Many other well-known public venues will still cost you over $200
That’s the trump card of TPC Deere Run. It offers everything you’d expect from a TPC venue, including a surprisingly dynamic course for less than $100, making it one of the best values of any course I’ve ever played.
The land on which the course sits is actually quite hilly and is next to a river so you get some great views from the tee box and green side alike. There’s plenty of undulations in the fairways and just enough slope on the greens to keep them interesting though much of the break isn’t readily apparent.
There’s just about every type of hole here and plenty of angles and playing strategies to employ depending on tee and pin location. The ground was softened by a heavy rain just before our round but the course played beautifully nonetheless with relatively fast greens and groomed (if still very firm) bunkers.
They grounds crew take pride in the course as evidenced by the delay in starting our round so they could groom the bunkers and cart path only for most of the round so the fairways weren’t worse for wear. Despite the JDC event having been completed less than a month ago the course has mostly recovered and played really well.
The staff was great all day though the cost of refreshments and merchandise was much more in line with costlier TPC courses, so keep that in mind.
Playing this course reminded me a lot of TPC River Highlands in Connecticut where they have the Travelers, and that’s high praise. You really do get a sense of what the pros face when they play and Deere Run is a great challenge that I look forward to the next time I’m in the area!
Hot/Humid/but Fun
Always enjoy a round at JDC . Weather deplorable with temp near 100. My only problem is going to John Deere after a brief rain, and it's cart paths only. Today conditions didn't necessitate that and with heat factor rounds were slowed by nearly an hour..This was ridiculous as carts are far away from shots, and a change in club selection requires another trip to cart. I won't repeat this carts only random decisions...
Great course
Course won yesterday. rough was very difficult; two companions took multiple shots to get out.
Greens were good; even fast going up hill.
Played bad; my driving was very poor on too many holes. Groups ahead of us were very slow and I ended up waiting too long and losing my rhythm .
did hit three great shots on 17 and birdied hole .
Fun in the sun
Another great time at JDC . Great place for a variety of skills players. Wandering thru the countryside it's a super place to play golf.
Played after TPC tournament
Course is always wonderful to play; I especially like the markers for play from degree of skill. At 74 I struggle with long yardages, but here there are 5 distinct t-boxes. Certainly a step above any course in area.
Great Course - A Couple Disappointments
Always enjoy playing Deere Run. Course was in excellent shape except for bunkers. Bunkers have great sand but were like concrete due to lack of maintenance. Greens were in best condition I have ever seen them. Check-in staff and starter very friendly and professional. Bag and cart staff usually very attentive after the round but this time just told us to drive our carts to the parking lot to take care of our own clubs.
