Whitetail Ridge Golf Club

The back nine is definitely more difficult than the front.
The course was very wet the day I played but the fairways and greens were excellent.

I visit my friend every year to play some golf and this is my favorite of all the courses we have played. Great shape, fair but very challenging. Some blind shots over tall water reeds. Just a real fun course out in the middle of farm fields so there are not a ton of houses and cars going by. A must play. Will go there every time I am back.

For the hot deal price we got, the course was fantastic. Good condition, interesting layout (need some course knowledge to really play well), and quick round. I was in the pro shop checking in for literally 15 seconds at most. Would definitely return

This is a fun course to play. Not overly difficult, but some challenging holes. The course always seems to be in good condition, from the range to the greens. Used to find deals here, would play here more often.

Might be the best value I've found on golfnow. I would nearly compare this to Bowes Creek (which i can say as a former member) and Blackstone quality for $10 less than blackstone and like $40 less than Bowes. Good condition, tough but fun layout, and we played in a twosome in 2.5 hours, even waiting on a few holes. would recommend

The staff and the food was exceptional. The course layout, (especially the back) requires good shot placement. The greens are well manicured, overall a great experience. My wife and I traveled 5 hours to play, and will return

Whitetail is a nice challenging track. The pace of play is always slow. It's usually windy the only question is will it be blustery. When the winds are high its difficult to putt and consistently strike the ball. You can't purchase beer on the last 7 holes; it's dry because it is indian land.
The course allows too many twosomes which cause things to stack up if one or more group plays slow. I won't pay full rates , golfnow only for me on rare occasions

Whitetail Ridge is totally worth the drive and a very fun course. We played early on a Saturday morning to get out before the crowd, but even with an early tee time there was some early traffic mainly due to the first hole, which is a short par 4. But after a few holes it seemed to open up and we didn’t encounter many groups after that. The two nines play totally different from each other; the front nine is more of a shot selection and strategic ball placement for a few holes and the back nine is a grip-it and rip-it with much more elevation changes. I prefer the back because you feel more secluded and the scenery/ topography is more exciting. But both sides offer nice views and course design.

The course condition was excellent and the greens were in good shape. For some it might be a tricky track and challenge your game, but I had a blast playing Whitetail Ridge. Note: 7 holes on the back are located in a dry county so they are unable to sell alcohol so just stock up at the turn if you really need to. Definitely coming back for another round, and looking forward to it.

So I love this golf course and they have a Monday madness deal for 35 bucks.....my only issue is that it's also 35 to walk.....id rather walk than ride so why not cut it to 25 for those who want to walk. I tees off around 215 and finally caught 3 foursomes around 12 fairway in just under an hour. None of these 4somes let me through and no rangers were out to help push the back 9 along so instead of finishing 18 in around 2 and a half hours. As a single it still took 3 and a half with my front 9 only taking me an hour. O well still love this place but would like to see a small assist to us walkers.

Course in great condition..only complaint is they don't have a starter or a rangers. We were a foursome and they decided to put 5 twosomes behind us. Needless to say they should have paired the twosomes up.

Always have a good time at Whitetail. The course suffers when too much rain, but recovers quickly. Pace of play can be a challenge if there are many high handicap players, but they were nice enough to allow others to play through.

Greens were slow, but consistent, every player needs to take time to fix divots. Hope course maintenance keeps the bunkers and greens in top shape. Looking forward to come back for a few more rounds; this course is quiet, open and challenging enough. The back nine requires smart course management.

Played 18 in just under 3 hours the weather has been ugly so the course is really soggy and the greens are still growing in but always love this place

I try to play 5 times per wk - depending on weather.

CAN'T PLAY COURSES THAT REQUIRE 2-4 GOLFERS.

WHAT'S THE LOGIC? I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE ME.
Suggestion: The 2-4 should adjust to 1-4 around an hour or ninety minutes before Tee Time.

There was a 15-20 mph wind yesterday with gusts to 30 mph. That was no fun. The Bunkers were like clay and there were no rakes in the Bunkers. I know it's February but, c'mon guys, you knew the course would be crowded yesterday!

A bit of a frost delay to start... But for February golfing... I'll take it! Great value as my cost was $28 for 18 with a cart.

Getting a chance to play in February is always nice. With the home course closed, I always venture to Whitetail Ridge in the off-season. This is a very fair golf course and it typically in great shape. The staff is friendly and courteous; if you have the time to stop in the restaurant afterwards definitely do so as the food is excellent. Only knock on this day was the pace of play; we finished in 4:35 which is just too long. The course can challenge low handicaps, but by in large the folks we saw out there today really struggled and certainly were in no hurry.

If you are willing to take a ride out from Chicago, highly recommend this links style course. Good layout and can very challenging when the wind is strong.
