Arroyo Golf Club
About
At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.
It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.
"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Really bad bunkers, inconsistent greens
The bunkers were horrible. Some had little to no sand. Some had crusty which made trying to make a consistent shot impossible. Others looked more like ground under repair. The greens were in good shape but very inconsistent. Some were fast some were slow others somewhere in the middle but having to guess what speed to expect made putting extremely difficult.
Slow burn
Couldn't finish. Over 5 hrs to play 17 holes into darkness. Nobody managing starts or pace of play. Energy seems to be biased into Private Members course
Great staff!
The staff in the Pro shop are excellent! They helped me with my situation, so I could enjoy there course. Course is in great shape and the greens are true.. Would recommend this course.
Staff unfriendliness is why I'll never return
I showed up about 75 min early to relax and have a proper warm up. I wasn't allowed to go to the range until I had a cart and I was not given one until 20 min before my tee time. When I asked how to get to the range I was told that I wouldn't have enough time. I asked if ter times were pushed back since they had a shortage of carts and they said no. I went to the range anyway for about 5 min to warm up anyway. I asked a guy driving a cart full of people to the range where to go to get to the first tee. He rudely asked me "haven't you been here before?" I told him it's been a year but I don't remember every 1st tee box to every course I play. Also even if it was my 10th time and I still don't know, why wouldn't you just tell me?
On top of all of this, I get to the first tee box and tee times are backed up and we tee off 15 min after our time. It took 4hrs45min to finish the round. Absolutely terrible experience. For the money I'd rather play Bears Best or Rhodes Ranch or Reflection Bay. I'd suggest going there instead.
April
Greens were very slow, recently plugged but was not notified of that. Also a few tee boxes need some attention
Weird place
Where do I start?
- Why is the starter on the range so insistent on pushing groups to start 20 min before the tee time. Same dude, always pushing us out as soon as we step foot on the range
- Start on Hole 7 which is a par 3
- Tee boxes are tiny
- The turn isn’t really a thing here since you start on 7
- They gave us a ranger cart bc the iPad which gives you the distances was taken out. We didn’t realize this until we teed off
I mean the scenery is nice since you’re on top of the mountains, but this place is weird.
Greens or Gravel roads
The greens were nearly unplayable , 5 hour pace , tea boxes resembled on deck circles on a baseball field . Not my favorite day of golf for sure .
Fun Play
Since I golfed with a family member who lives in the Vegas area and has a players card, got the local rate, which was a great deal. Otherwise, the value here for a non-resident is average at best. The conditions were fairly good for the time of year, although a few tee boxes were in bad shape. The layout is fun and not overly challenging. Overall would give Arroyo a B- rating and recommend.
Too Much Rough
There is a lot to like about Arroyo at Red Rock. An Arnold Palmer designed course is always well built, has nice drainage, and good sight lines. Staff is friendly, food and clubhouse is great.
What I don't get, and really don't like, is the over-reliance on growing the rough out on a lot of the holes. Wholesale swaths of rough grown across fairways on Par 5s, in ordert to do what? Toughen it up? Confound the player? Concentrate the play into smnaller areas making for more and more divots? It is thick, long, wiry and very difficult to manage for average and/or older players.
Rough is great in order to keep a golf bal ON the golf course; so have it on the edges of holes in housing areas like Arroyo. But its overdone.
Arroyo course and staff are to be commended for the rebuild of most bunkers and greens complexes. Really nice job. Now, let us play golf on holes 4,5,8,10,11,16,17 and 18- where you have too much rough and not enough fairway cut.
Greens are awesome
Great layout, pace of play as 4 1/2 hours. Greens are immaculate and fast running @11. Will definitely play here again
Hello, 2Break80. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Arroyo Golf Club.
