At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.

It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.

"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Terrible

Played 9 holes in 3 hours. Waited on every tee box for multiple groups. When staff finally came out on the third hole they told us that there was a tournament out in front of us that was holding everything up, but they were almost finished. That was the last we heard from them, and pace never improved. No mention beforehand that pace was awful, or going to be slow. Greens were in horrific shape, and our group passed the time by fixing as many ball marks as we could but still didn't make a dent. For the price, this was a significant let down

I thought my ratings would suffice but here goes.

The pace of play was atrocious No marshalls keeping slow groups moving.

No real directions from starter on where to find hole 1, "just drive down this street you will see it"

No chipping green for non-members

No beverage cart on the course

Golf Carts

Arrived for early tee time and assigned a cart made for hauling people and not golf clubs. Employee explained, "first 12 tee times are assigned "odd" carts due to cart shortage. Wasn't going to work for my wife and I, so I spoke to the pro shop staff and they explained the same and offered to return fees (not an option if we wanted to play golf in Vegas that day) Luckily my wife had charmed the employee in to issuing us a "real" golf cart made for golf.
Totally unacceptable to pay to play on a well known course and issued a non-golf cart. The real golf carts were beat up pretty bad, but at lease we could secure our clubs and enjoy our round. Management needs to "do better" and not expect their employees to deal with the problem.

Nice course, good practice facilities. Limited food and drink but prices reasonable. No food available after 5 pm GPS didn’t work in cart. Teed off at 11:07 finished at 4:25. Waited on every hole, often 2 groups on tee box. No marshals . I would consider playing again but not on weekend and play early unless you don’t mind long round

Too posh

Played 15 minutes a hole and the Marshall made our group skip a hole. Will never return. He was rude and the group behind us never caught us on a tee box. Poor management

Challenging and Gorgeous

Really beautiful and challenging course. It's sort of semi-private and the members were a bit snobby. The staff wasn't all that welcoming but they were nice enough to get us checked in and tee'd off. That's a surprise since Las Vegas is a tourist destination so you'd think outsiders would be made to feel more welcome. Outside of that, the golf was fantastic and my cousin and I got our butts kicked by the course. If you're a straight hitter you'll do really well as there aren't too many technical holes. If you slice or pull it, you'll be in trouble.

Vegas

This was my first time playing here. The course was in decent shape although the greens were bumpy and full of unrepaired pitch marks.
The course has some terrific holes and nice views. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only issue--and it was a big one--was the terribly slow pace of play. We started on #7, apparently to accommodate a large group. Our round took five and one-half hours (5.5.) For a course of this stature, and price, to subject their guests to such a slow round of golf is appalling. There is simply no excuse for it. And as such, as nice as the course/surroundings are, I likely will not return. It was extremely disappointing.

muni experience at resort prices

i’ve played here several times and prior experiences were better. my foursome all arrived at airport on a Sunday and drove out for our first round. We arrived and unloaded in parking lot and walked up to the clubhouse entrance. Several employees were sitting or standing around . No one offered to help with bags or give directions. i finally asked about a cart and the fellow seemed a bit annoyed but pointed to a cart and said “go ahead and take that one. My buddy and i loaded our own bags then had to ask how to get to pro shop. There are 2 courses ( one resort and one private ) and minimal signage and it’s a challenge to figure out where to go. We finally got checked in and set out to hit a few balls. Again poor signage and hard to navigate to the range. We teed off from #7 - again hard to find. Our rate included some drink tickets good only for cheapest beer or water. course was in pretty good shape and fun layout and we had a good golf day . We came in at the end and unloaded clubs at car then walked up to grab a beer and use our remaining tickets . Clubhouse was closed up and locked. One of my guys did get let in to use restroom before we drove off. Overall a decent course but didn’t feel welcomed at all.

First time playing Arroyo and would not return. Started on 7th hole if we had not played with 2 people who know this course it would have been extremely difficult to get around.I did not understand why we did not start at 1st or 9th hole. Pace of play over 5 hours. Greens horrible full of divots. Bunkers terrible - sand was like gravel. We played Bear's Best the day before and course was excellent. The highlight of the day was food and drinks at the restaurant.

Pace/Conditions

There are better courses in Vegas for the same price. For non-residents, you're better off looking elsewhere. We started on hole 7, there weren't any clear directions to the hole, GPS didn't work (kept resetting to the mountain course), pace of play was 6.5-7 hours. We ended up with a group of six on our hole and kept pace with the group in front of us as they were partying and wouldn't let us through. Clubhouse suggested to skip around holes and come back later which lead to more chaos. Greens were filled with divots. On the bright side, kitchen was good and views were awesome! Staff did offer to make the round right by offering another round at resident rate, but didn't really have interest in playing here again.

Not in good shape.

Course layout is very fun and challenging. But conditions left alot to be desired. Greens very bumpy because no one fixes their ball marks and the greens keepers do not fix them either to cover for the irresponsible player's at this course. Fairways very long and unevenly cut. Maybe the time of year?? Bunkers terrible. First one I stepped into I sunk 2 1/2 feet and twisted my knee. Way to much sand and again player's in front of us didn't even rake after.
Would play again but the course needs to make their staff monitor the pace of play and the ignorance of the player's on the course to improve conditions.

Not worth the money

$220 which included 4 drink tix. Very busy Friday morning, 3 tee times for our group. Tees off on #7, waited 2-5 min each hole and tee to green can be 2-3 hundred yds apart. Confusing layout.

Greens were in very poor shape, bunch of pitch marks, debris, sand and patches throughout.

Facility is difficult to navigate, range was well away from first tee box. Starter indicated it was a country club with certain expectations but the course, overall played like a $50 muni.

Much better options at similar price point.

Poor condition

For the cost, this was way too expensive. Driving range was closed and so they decide to start you on hole 7. Presumably to get more play.. Hole 7 is a longer par 3. Bunkers are/were damaged by recent monsoon and they still charged us 90 bucks. Not cool.

Expected more

To be fair, I would give this course another chance, but I had a bad first impression…

I booked two back-to-back tee times with two groups of three. I called the clubhouse to mention it was for a bachelor party and wanted to see if we could do a scramble. Two teams of three. Most of us golf pretty regularly but would understand if we couldn’t do that. Figured it was worth trying anyways. They said no problem at all. See you then.

We show up for our tee time and when I checked us in, they said we couldn’t do that. Okay what happened? I said I called when I booked and it wasn’t going to be an issue… That was pretty frustrating but whatever.

Then, they also forgot to mention we start at hole 7, a par 3? What’s that about? After hole 5, the ranger told us we were playing too slow even though we had to keep waiting for the foursome ahead of us since we could only play as a threesome. It didn’t make any sense.

At the end of the day, it was a nice course but all of that nonsense didn’t make it a fun round.

Excellent Course and Great Conditions

Pristine conditions and beautiful scenery throughout track. Luckily I had a cart with someone who played there before. Confusing cart paths to holes as you don’t start on hole 1 either. Nice practice area and 8/10 green contains. On my top 5 list so far in Vegas area.
