Forget everything you've heard about that gentler, kinder Pete Dye at Paiute. When you step onto the Wolf Course at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort, the legendary architect with the cold hacker heart returns. And then some. The newest of the three Paiute courses, comes in at a staggering 7,604 yards.

And it's an isolated 7,604 yards. You don't only get lost in your round here. You could almost literally get lost in the desert with a few wrong turns off the cart path. Drives that go flying off target deep into the desert areas are unlikely to found by another human ever. A rattlesnake might be keeping your Pro V1s company for the rest of their days. This is stunning scenery, capable of leaving the most cynical hacker open mouthed.

Paiute Wolf is just a far enough drive away from the Sin City hustle that it's likely the top, high-end course you can easily get on last minute in the Vegas valley. It also might be the best of them all.

Also known as Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Kwetoo-Unuv Course.

Our favorite course in Vegas

Beautiful course and the tee times are nicely spaced. We were a twosome behind a foursome so had to wait a little but not too bad. Marshals do a great job keeping up the pace. Only disappointment was that the golf shop was closed at 4pm. We were looking forward to some shopping afterwards. But we ended our round at 4:15.

Windy but fun

Course and greens were in great shape. I played the Wolf in very windy conditions so the course howled but it was a great experience. I’d say my second favorite course behind Wolf Creek.

Don’t sleep on this course

While outside the glitz and glam of the strip, this course is a desert oasis that will challenge players at all levels. Make the drive. It’s worth it!

Not a Good Value

The fee for this course was $280…so you expect something special. I it’s really just an okay course and by far the windiest course I’ve ever played in the U.S. that didn’t enhance the charm, but instead made it difficult to enjoy the experience…and I’ve since learned this is pretty typical for this course in the middle of the desert.

We played Wolf and me and my partner both landed our shots at the front of the windswept hard island green at 15 and both our balls, high shots with backspin) rolled off the green into the water. The hole looks better in photos than real life and is really just a gimmick to get you to play there.

If you’re going to spend the money, lots of better choices!

BTW, Paiute…after dropping $280 to play there, couldn’t you at least put some water stations on the course. You’re in the middle of the dry desert! I think they just want us to spend more money on water.

Pace of play

Everything was great about the course the conditions, the facilities everything. We had a foursome of ladies in front of us that were driving the golf cart up to and nearly on the green. They did not have any golf etiquette, nor did they speak any English. At one point, their cart was on top of the green. The system would not let them move forward so they had to back out from the green.

It was very difficult for The staff to communicate with them, which I understand, however, with the number of international people that come to Las Vegas to golf, there has to be a better way to communicate to people how to play faster. Maybe have the staff use Google Translator to speak with them.

Wonderful but windy day on Wolf

Gorgeous course in an other-wordly like setting with the green fairways set against the desert and mountain backdrop. Course was in great condition, although the wind was howling at 15-25mph throughout the round. Pro shop was wonderful, the views from the restaurant were next level. Highly recommend a visit out to Paiute - we'll definitely be back!

Great Course

Course was in excellent condition. Only complaint is greens were really fast. Paiute courses get a lot of play so 4.5 to 5 hour rounds are the norm.
Really nice practice facility. all grass, no mats and balls are included with fees.
A little windy but not bad given this part of the valley can have extreme winds.

Paiute is the best in Vegas and it's not close

I don't want to write positive reviews because it's already hard enough to get a tee time at the local rate.

The conditions are the best in Vegas because they don't have watering restrictions. The layout is the right combination of doglegs, long holes, target practice holes, uphill/downhill holes, and challenging greens to hit. It's neither too easy nor too hard unless you're one of the many seniors who hit from tees meant for single digit handicappers. This course is all about the island green par 3 (hole 15).

There's so much seed/grain in the fairways/greens. The tee boxes are in great condition. The rough is lush green inch thick. The grass range is in great condition. The greens are fast and roll so smooth. Only complaint I would have is the sand could be more powdery instead of grainy, but they have plenty of sand in the bunkers.

Carts had (4) bottles of water - wish they were this generous when I played here in July, especially since there is no shade and no refill stations on the course. Carts had GPS but did not tell you the distance from any tees on this course. Cart GPS was smaller screen, also did not have green slopes. No ball washers, they would give you a wet towel to wash your ball.

It's beautiful. There's nothing better than playing in 70-80 degree heat and looking over a lake with ducks to snow covered mountains in March. There's no airplanes flying over, no homes with barking dogs or blasting music. Everyone driving out here to play is doing so because they are golfers first. The view from the clubhouse restaurant is spectacular.

The wolf

Great course, vast desert with an enclosed oasis of a jewel. But the pace of play was horrendous. This course is not for the weak. I understand everyone wants to play a challenging course but not a soul ahead of us could have broken 100. Why make it miserable for a player? Play a scramble, play the front tees and don’t fall behind when playing such a course
