Good Mesquite Golf Course
Not the monster that Wolf Creek is but the Palmer course provides a very good challenge with elevations and scenery. Some areas of the course have housing nearby which can be intrusive. Course was in nice shape but the greens were the slowest of the 5 courses we played....pretty shaggy/velcro. A good play in the Mesquite area. A shade below 4 stars - hadn't played it in several years.....but the pace of play was downright excruciating - almost 6 hours....
GolfNow Good Times
Played with single and couple who turned out to be very cool. We had lots of fun. Lady was a baller who had game from tee to green. We played fast but a drunk 3 some held us us up from playing under 4 hours. They parked on 17th green if that gives ya any indication. The "tee keeper" who followed us most of the way. Storm came out of nowwhere so high winds about 35mph for at least 10 holes made scoring impossible at best. I lost my hat twice. Sorry Colorado boy got hair while my playing partners except lady were basically bald which I notice is a trend in NV. Anyways the greens are big and generally fast which I like and similar to courses that I play in Co, you will not be able to read them either.
There was some kind of big event yesterday and so play was kind of slow. On mos days it is very good.
Better this time
I had played this course once before on a group outing. That time was in August and the greens were not good. I recognize that summer in Mesquite is hard on course conditions, but the greens last time made the day unenjoyable.
Playing in spring time, the greens were much better and it let me get a better sense of the design. We had winds in the 30+ mph range which increased the challenge.
The layout features a lot of elevation change and a few forced carries. There is enough water to make you think. Several of the three pars are steep drops that made factoring the wind difficult. Fairways were good. Greens weren’t too fast, but ran true.
The clubhouse is nice, though they have portions reserved for members. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff. The grass range was a little chewed up, but it beats using mats. There is a short game area which is a nice feature.
Overall, we had a good day. I recommend outside of the later summer when the greens may be an issue.
This course was in great shape
Front 9 was great. Back 9 was really backed up and never did see a marshall on the course who could have picked up the pace.
very fun, VERY SLOW
Nice staff, great helpful starter! Course was in really very good shape, EXCEPT GREENS... The greens were very, VERY BUMPY, not from ball marks, very few marks, due to hard greens! Enjoyed the fun layout & interesting holes all day! Extremely slow play from #5 on! 2+ front, 3+ hrs. back nines. Marshall was with / around us for many holes, but only spoke to super slow 4 some ahead once all day! I'll be back tho ;)
Play too slow but course was great
Beautiful canyon par 4’s and drop from the top par 3’s. Got stuck behind 2 groups of guys drinking way too much so a 5 hour round.
Disappointment
First of all, I must say that the staff were very nice and helpful.
My only disappointment stems from the fact that I played the Palmer course last year and found it much more interesting. When I return to Mesquite, I will return to the Oasis, but only on the Palmer course.
Good value
Greens nice... Rolling well.. Great course layout and overall good shape. Great value as a hot deal through golf now.
Great value with hot deal
Although cart guys were not the friendliest or most helpful, restaurant staff was fantastic and food was great. Course is a great layout, lots of elevation changes and in great shape.. Greens were fantastic! As a hot deal with golf now... can't beat the value at this course!
