Beautiful course, SLOW play
Bear's Best has always been one of my favorite courses north of Atlanta. Unfortunately, my recent visit makes me hesitant to return. The bar, grill, and restrooms were all closed due to water damage from the recent frigid temperatures. Although inconvenient, I completely understand the situation. Speaking of golf, tee times were running 10-15 minutes behind with 3 groups on #1 tee at our scheduled time. Fairways and tee boxes were not overseed with rye as I have seen in past years. Pace of play was horrible (4:50 for 18 holes). Ranger was not interested in asking groups to maintain pace.

I played this course for the first time and I was impressed. There was a bunch of rain this week and the course seemed to take it well. I definitely plan on playing again.

Great Track. Look for deals.
Bears Best is a course I’d recommend to play. Course tees, fairways and greens were in very good shape. Many of the bunkers are being reworked and or had little sand. That’s why a 4 vs 5. Got a very good rate via GN Hot Deal for a late afternoon tee time. Check in was easy and Pro Shop staff very friendly. I’ll be back.

Is it worth the $100+?
This course is fun. Some holes can be challenging but the greens did not break like we thought it would. A lot of fairways were wide open which is great if you lose your balls a lot. Overall, it was fun but I would probably play in the fall or winter to save money. It took me a minute to get to this course but it’s been on my list for years. It’s fun to play once in a while but I can’t afford to play it often.

Everything is in great shape right now! A couple of bad spots on outer green areas and a couple of thin tee boxes, but nothing of consequence. Would have appreciated the bunkers being groomed this morning as I spent quite a bit of time in them, but they raked out nicely. Greens and fairways - wow!

Pure besides some of the bunkers
Course layout is a lot of fun. Greens rolled quick and true. Fairways were in great shape. Most of the tee boxes were in solid shape.

Bear's Worst
So sad to see the course is such bad shape. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers all in bad shape. Most tee boxes don't have a lot of grass, the fairways are less than ideal and most of the bunkers are a joke. The greens were recently aerated so I will give them a pass on that. The areas around the green are terrible. Save your money, even the Hot Deal rate of $70 is still $40 too high. The Nicklaus group should be embarrassed to be associated with this course. I have played here many times over the last 10 years and it really has gone down hill. Save your time and money, so many better options.

Course is in great shape to be in the middle of winter. Although it was cart path only it wasn’t extremely wet. One slow group slowed everyone down but still a good time!
