The Hills Course at Red Hawk
About
The Resort at Redhawk is known to golf travelers around the globe and is one of the highlights of the grand golf destination that is the High Sierra. Located in the town of Sparks, next door to Reno, the Hills Course is one of two 18-hole runs at Redhawk and draws raves for its challenging play and incredible scenery.
Designed by three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin, the Hills Course offers players a Scottish links-style layout that has small and dastardly greens, dramatic elevation changes, deep bunkering and immaculate views of one of the most scenic golf destinations in the United States.
While the Hills Course is a must play in the Reno area and will challenge long hitters with a 127 slope rating, Irwin added another touch to the resort. A unique, 18-hole putting green will have players competing, all the while improving their putting game, helping to make Redhawk and the Hills Course a standout in the High Sierra.

Hills was nice, coming back for the other course!
Easily one of the nicest courses in the northern Nevada region. Nice layout, staff was professional and course is well maintained.
A good, slow time
The Red Hawk facilities are some of the nicest publicly offered to the reno area. The club house and practice area are exactly what you would expect at the price point but this place struggles with one major thing: pace of play. Anytime i am spending over 40 dollars for a round, i have a higher expectation of how the day will go. Unfortunately we spent our round following a kid top his 3 wood for triple par on every hole while dad made him run to his ball. I totally understand “everyone starts somewhere” but there are so many other courses better suited towards bringing someone new into the game. Although it was slow, the weather was nice and the course played well. The greens were lightning and regardless of any gripes, anytime i am out on the golf course is a good time. All in all, wasnt pleased with the pace but i will continue to go back to red hawk as the course is one of the better ones in the area.
Cart Path Only
Take a nice layout at smart gos carts and mix in some stubbornness and yiu get a 5 hr round for no reason. Cart path only golf on a dry track .. ridiculous
Very Nice Course
Great course. Greens were in fantastic shape, very fast but playable. Fairways, rough and tee boxes in very good shape. Sand traps were not bad but could use a little work. There are a couple of holes where you have some carries over water or penalty areas and some where you need some course knowledge which I was lucky, one person in my group plays it quite often. Some views are quite stunning. You won’t be sorry playing this course.
Wide open fairways
Over all we had a very nice day, fairways are fast, greens are even faster making it a challenge.
My wife and I celebrated our 22nd Anniversary and loved the course and of course the beautiful scenery.
We cant wait to bring friends and family back for a round.
Thank you, Tony
Not Happy!
I didn't play, I had to cancel. I have used Tee Off prior to this and liked the fact that it had a no charge cancellation fee. I tried to cancel yesterday due to some scheduling problems was told since I'm "not a member" and that the booking was made directly to the course. The agent tried to call the course no answer and this was at 4pm! With this new policy I will not use Tee Off again.
The Hills!!!
Such a fun course to play. It’s tough because of the constant elevation changes.
Needs some attention.
Played Lakes course. Disappointing. Greens were very inconsistent, had some rough patches in the fairways. Although bunkers were maintained the areas outside were not. Very sad that this once nice property looks very shabby. Needs some attention. Hope that when Troon takes over the conditions will improve.
Great Day!
Understaffed at Pro Shop. Bunkers had weeds and water. Loved seeing the antelope on Hole 11. Great day. Will definitely return.
