Probably Closing Soon
Pretty brutal day out on this golf course. I remember 10 years ago this was one of the nicest courses in the area. Now it's in very mediocre shape. The tee boxes were quite furry. Fairways and greens were in decent shape. The bunkers were a mess. So bad that the pro shop told us it's best not to play out of them and just take a free drop where you entered the bunker. They are apparently taking out more bunkers(they've done this before) and are reshaping the remaining bunkers. When I asked why they said it costs too much to maintain the bunkers. Couple this with the fact that I used to pay well over $100 to play this course on a weekend/holiday and it leads me to believe that this course is struggling mightily. They've completely abandoned the Johnny Miller design and consistently make the course worse. I think they hope these changes are going to help business but it's only going to hurt. There is a good chance this is the last round I ever play at Eagle Ridge and I'm fully expecting the course to shut down and become houses in short order. Sad to see what has happened to a once beautiful golf course and facility.
Outside of the course the first golf cart were given had a nail in the tire and the tire went flat. Had to swap it out at the turn. We hit the turn at 12:30pm and the girl running the snack bar didn't even have the grill going yet on a holiday!!! She fired it up and then proceeded to serve us lukewarm polish sausages that were still cold in the center. Our experience should serve as an absolute embarrassment to the management team as I'm sure they will be losing their jobs soon anyways.
avoid this course for a few weeks
would have been nice for TeeOff to let us know that the course was sanded and aerated. normally a fun course but not this time. Just miserable greens. No notification from TeeOff about the maintenance.
Eagle Ridge Transition
Eagle Ridge is a Great track, but the maintenance staff cannot keep up the deteriorating condition of the Eagle Ridge. It's my recommendation that Eagle Ridge shrinks their irrigation footprint and transitions to a desert style golf course with a targeted Single line irrigation system. This will save on water costs and give the maintenance staff a chance to keep up the condition of the course. Also with a smaller irrigation footprint, Eagle ridge would be able to manicure and double seed, and consequently compete with Coyote Creek and Cinnabar Hills for Members. Attached is an of a Naturalist Golf course.
i have played this course many times in the past but have not seen it in such poor condition was playing as a twosome in between several foursomes no place to go got very irritating when the group behind us complained that we weren't playing fast enough and then lied to us when confronted about hitting up on us as we wee on the green Don't think I will play there again
Much Improved
Haven’t played for a few years at ER due to course conditions. Sand traps are all playable now w nice sand. Most of the greens are in very good to excellent condition running fast and true. There are still “spotty” grass areas in some fairways and aprons, which should be played ground under repair. Lastly there are wild pigs rooting up some of #8. These are all repairable and I will return. Fun track.
Conditions are poor
Overall conditions are poor. Some fairways are not mowed, so even drives down the middle end up in rough like position. And hole 8 is an absolute disaster, with the middle of the fairway looking like a war zone. Will not play again until the conditions improve.
Getting Better
I have played Eagle Ridge many times over the years and always appreciated the design and challenge. I have also called out the deficiencies in its maintenance like years of bunkers overgrown with weeds and fairways under construction. But lately I have noticed the course is looking much better although still not perfect (but what course is?).
To summarize- this in a five star course in four star condition.
Great layout, wait to play in the Summer
With the rain, drainage seemed to be an issue, especially with the slopes here. 7th and 8th fairway are destroyed by boars , 14th fairway is tarpped.
For the price there are better courses , the layout is challenging and fun , greens were in good shape overall. Will hope for better conditions come
Summer and may try again
Great Course. Challenging because of wet conditions
There were several holes that had uniquely horrible draining. Otherwise, I really enjoyed playing the course
Much better since the put sand in the bunkers. Hog messed up 8 and 9. But don't know what you can do about that
Nice challenging course
Great course
Not sure when eagle ridge started allowing blue jeans as acceptable attire
Maybe I am old school but I don’t think it’s that difficult to to adhere to a golf dress attire
Not good
Would have been nice to know they had sanded the greens the day before play. No notification from TeeOff. Absolutely awful. Course website had discounted fees but NOT TeeOff! Play here many times and always good. This time…Just miserable.
Eagle Ridge
Good greens- fast and true-some tee boxes needed help along of course with the animal issues of some fairways - no place for comfortable (inside) 19th hole beverage.
Not a fan of hitting of mats to warm up either
