About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 7084 yards
Slope 141
Rating 73.4

Along with a nine-hole, par-3 course, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club also offers an 18-hole championship length course. Designed by Perry Dye, the course is 7,241 yards at its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. The course is a short distance south of the Denver International Airport and downtown Denver is easily accessible. The course is challenging and also scenic; it is not a rare occurrence to see wildlife such as deer on the course. Dye successfully incorporated the natural landscape of the area. The natural creeks and wetlands as well as the beautiful cottonwood trees were kept in tact. The course has received several honors from widely read golf magazines such as Golf Digest and Golf Week.

A Beast - Can you tame it?

We played Green Balley Ranch the day following the Colorado Senior Open. While the rough was manageable, the greens were lightening fast and randomly placed in difficult positions. We all had shots we wanted to replay so well plan to return again.

Sooooo Stinking Slooooow

The pace of play was unbelievably slow. The course is in very good condition and play is challenging. This was a weekend round and I understand that but 5 hours and 15 minutes to play was ridiculous. There was a 2 some on the course that held up 6 foursomes due to it being a playing lesson. There was never a ranger to check on players or correct the foursome behind us for hitting in to us, twice. The frustration of waiting for every shot and waiting 5-10 minutes on each tee box boiled over on the 16th tee when our two groups had a heated meeting due to being hit in to. There has to be an assertive ranger to keep pace of play and handle those situations. GVR relied upon the GPS system in the carts to maintain pace of play and that did not work at all. I like the course, but for such slow play both times I have played, it's just not worth it.

Nice Course

Local knowledge is a must at this course and your ground game needs to be good. Several forced carries, narrow landing areas, and blind shots so I can't wait to play again now that I know where the ball needs to go.

Also the wind was blowing 30 mph so that may have hurt as well but this is a fun course with several risk/reward options and it's in good shape.

Great Course

There are are some really easy holes, and some really challenging holes. The layout is pretty darned good. With the exception of #16, I like very hole in the course. 18 is a monster finishing hole. Not the longest, but lots of trouble to be found, even on the shortest holes. Drive it straight, and you'll do well.

I've played here a lot. This is not for a beginning golfer. Just too much trouble off the tee. Greens have slope, but aren't too difficult. Decent speed. Prob 10 in stimp. I've played faster and I've played slower greens.

Good course for the money

Has some great holes, especially 16-18. Didn't spend too much time waiting. Course was in good shape considering it is still early in the year.

Still Early Spring

The fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. The green though, had been aerated, sanded, and allowed to get fuzzy. As a result putts speeds and breaks were inconsistent. All that is needed to fix this is water, sun, and time, which are on their way. The pace of play was great and the course from the blue tees can be challenging; especially holes 16 (there are three trees in the fairway near the green - oh goodness!) and 18, which has trouble for most of it par 5 length, on both sides of the fairway. A "fun" visual challenge.
I'll be back again. :D

the best $35 dollars I've spent on Golf

After researching many of the Denver Area courses I choose Green Valley Ranch for its price $35 incl cart and reputation for quality. This is a great track - the mountain views breath-taking. I really liked the generous landing area's while still having plenty of challenge.

The houses come into play a few places but not enough to detract from the golf experience. Greens were great - large tiered.

First class facility quality without pretension - I hole to be back soon.

Good conditions for winter golf

The goal this time of year is always to locate a course in the best condition for play and this course is in good shape considering.
Winter golf means long drives due to roll out and bumpy greens but it better than doing practice swings in your living room.
Great practice facility.
Had a good time with no wind.

Great Course

It's a little bit of drive, but completely worth it. The back nine has some great views. There's good elevation changes throughout the course which you don't find in many of the city courses.

Wonderful Winter Conditions

This course is in absolutely phenomenal condition for the middle of February. I have played here 3 total times now and the previous 2 were in the middle of the summer when the course was also in fantastic shape. The employees are helpful and kind, and I have nothing but good things to say about Green Valley Ranch. We were lucky enough to get a great deal and the weather was incredible. The course had recently been aerated it seemed, although they seemingly staggered the fairway and green aeration so you are not battling both for the round. I thought the greens ran true and the course was kept up extremely well throughout these past few winter months. I will be back!

Course has its challenges, however there is a great risk-reward offered at most holes...beware plays longer than you think, especially hole 12.

I love how the course really temps you to go for it on a number of holes, yet while rewarding you for playing smart. Why play smart??? I want Birdies!!!
