The Bridges review
The course was in excellent condition greens were tough due to poana but tees and fairways were great
Love the Bridges
As every time we have played this course, the staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. The course is well kept with gorgeous views. And the restaurant never disappoints!!!!
Early season
I played this course many years ago and thought I would play it again. It is early season, course is in good shape for time of year. Only problem is they aerated the greens 3 days before we played. I fully understand this is normal part of maintenance, but I was disappointed with my timing. Course will be in great shape in 3-4 weeks. I will return to play in prime shape.
It was a great day of golf for me course was great for being so early can’t wait to come back and play when it has warmed up and the grass hets a chance to grow but a great time fir me I live in Utah so a real treat for me thanks to all
Crispy Brown
Canals and lakes are full of water yet none of it appears to have made it to the course. The drought has made it’s way to Montrose County.
One of my West Slope Favorites
Played on good Friday, had a 10:30 tee time. Felt like we were the only ones on the course. Play here once or twice a year, one of my favorites. Irrigation water wasn't in yet, so things were a bit dry, but that's how it goes this time of year when you are in a drought.
Challenging
There are many layup holes, which makes it difficult to score low. The course is in good condition but many wet areas throughout because of watering. The fairways are wide and the rough is rough, it’s difficult to find errant shot balls. We enjoyed our round; however, it was mowing day and it took away from our quiet enjoyment of the course. We were visiting from Denver where we hear traffic noise on most courses, we were looking forward to a quiet day, no such luck.
Love the Bridges
My husband and I love the Bridges. This year we brought my brother to golf it as well. He is a very good golfer and my husband and I are intermediate. We all loved the course!!! Had lunch afterward on the patio, and our meals were excellent. Great day of Golf and Lunch!!
Long Haul
This play was during a very slow moving tournament. The course was dry and played long. There is a long distance between many holes and signage could be better. The clubhouse environment, while visually appealing, was rather unfriendly.
One Long Course
The course has good distant views and offers challenge. The course was very dry but has a unique design. Play was slow. The course plays long and there should be better signage between holes in some places. Bridges seems frequently be a bit breezy.
When in Town...Play Here
The Bridges is a Jack Nicklaus design complete with a whole lot of hazards and water. If you are off your game, you won't be close to your handicap. The course has some diversity in holes and offers plenty of challenge for serious sticks/people with distance abilities. If you are a low handicapper, then you will enjoy it here. If not, you can still enjoy your round if you don't try anything outside of your ability. Check out the slope ratings if you want to get an idea.
Favorite hole is the short par 4 third with at least two ways to play it. Most holes are of the hit it here or else type, but it is an enjoyable challenge. Par 3s have variety in distances. The par 5s are not easy to reach in two shots. Definitely three shotters for anyone who isn't of the 350 tee shot caliber. Still, enjoyable for someone show is a mid to high handicapper. High handicappers will want to bring extra ammo as the majority of holes have water.
Green sites are good; some contour, but nothing out of control. Enough to make two putting not a given if not on the right side of slopes. Putts are relatively easy to read if you give it a look from two sides. Speeds are good; about 12. Fast but not ridiculous.
The course conditions are excellent; especially for elevation. They lend themselves to the aerial game being rewarded. Not many shot options with all the hazards.
Off the course, there is a full practice facility, restaurant and anything else you want when not playing. The views of the San Juan mountains are quite wonderful too.
The western slope is not crowded at all compared to the front range (Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, etc), so pace of play and ability to get out is easy.
If in the area, this would be where I would go.
Great Course
The wife and I Played at The Bridges while vacationing in the area. We really enjoyed the course. It was challenging, interesting, and playable, without being penalizing. Staff was helpful and friendly. Course had some bare patches in the fairways, but we understand that the weather this past winter was a challenge and courses in the area are recovering. Definitely recommend the course if you’re in the Montrose area.
