Most Fun I've Had In A While
Great conditions, great mixed use of course design: parkland, wooded, water, and links is all present which is a huge plus plus plus! I played blue tees (~6500 yards) which was enough to rip the driver on all needed holes, and the design is fair enough that there isn't really long carries off the tees for beginners. Extremely walkable course; great pace--we finished our foursome in 4.0 hours. Greens where punched/sanded, but I knew that ahead of time, and they were in better shape than expected.
What Happened to Blue Mash??
Sorry Kemper Sports, you have failed this great course, which was a US Open qualifier a few years ago. No rakes in traps, no sand in carts, way too many ball marks to fix and the fairways are a disaster - I hope you can recover in time for summer but right now this looks like a well below average course that has lost is luster. Our group dod play fast, however no excuse for the group that started behind us to be on #10 when we were on #18
Beautiful
We played here middle of the week in the off season so there was great pace of play, staff was super friendly and the course was amazing. We will be back
Great Golf Course!
First time playing this course. Had a great time playing. Everyone on staff was very friendly and very helpful. Definitely coming back!
Nice layout. Good for all skill levels.
Fairways and tee boxes in great shape especially given the wet weather. Nice layout. Friendly off the tee, but the large greens have some big contours making reading tricky. Course has some teeth off of the back tees. Sam, in the pro shop, was great.
Great course, bad value
Too expensive for the time of year for the quality of the tees, fairways, and greens. It's winter--no reason this course should cost over $100 for 18 & a (needing updated) cart.
Blue Mash -Fall 2023
Always a great place to play. Course layout is fun and the greens were in amazing shape. Staff was extremely helpful, it was a rainy day and I was one of maybe 10 folks on the grounds that afternoon, but everyone was in great spirits and got me out there without any issue. Excellent practice facility (all grass driving range, well manicured putting green, and chipping area). It’s always my favorite place to play when I take a break from the Montgomery County rotation of courses, and definitely a step up in experience without having to drive all the way out to Frederick.
Love the Layout--Was Disappointed, Though
I play Blue Mash once or twice a year. With the Tee Time Digital Golf Pass, a foursome was $45 so we decided to drive over (over an hour for many of us). I love the layout with a variety of risk/reward holes and some easy scoring holes. The greens were super fast and most holes were in good condition. However, when we made the turn, #10 was filled with 10 guys aerating the fairway, using blowers (hand and machine), and waving us up to play...and not getting out of the way. It was very distracting, both with the multitude of people out there and all the plugs laying on the surface. So, we played over the heads of the guys (because they didn't get out of the way). The same thing happened on #18...the course should have taken those two holes out of play while they were working on them. Additionally, all the par 3's had the forward/red tees back at the white tees. We assumed they were trying to save the forward tee boxes, but moving the tees two boxes back? We found out when we came in that, oops! They had moved them back for the par 3 closest to the pins for a tournament the day before and forgot to move them back! They sent someone out to fix it--too late for our scores, though. Finally, when we went in to have lunch, the kitchen was closed due to deep cleaning. Every time I play Blue Mash, the forward tees are not where they are supposed to be on the par 3's and something else is going on. Maybe just bad luck (or timing) for me, but I won't go back again this year. Great layout, but too many other distractions for me.
Very Nice course, all golf is $100 now
Well main rained course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all in good shape. Liked the over all design. Like the shared fairways. Very fair course. There are some very long holes if you play back. Staff was helpful and attentive. Range was in good shape as was practice putting green area with chip and putt green. Overall good experience. We drive from Reaton, VA for an 8:00am tee time and we’re glad we did. It was a beautiful day and experience at Blue Mash.
Course in good shape
Course was in really good shape. Pace of play was good, and Marshall kept it moving. I liked the course layout. I think it’s a course that most golfers will enjoy.
