Back 9 much improved
I've played this course a few times and my primary complaint was that it was kind of boring with parallel fairways going back and forth a little to close together, Front 9 hasn't changed much but the back 9 has been changed substantially. The views are fantastic and 16, 17 and the 18th holes are a real challenge. the new 16 has the second shot over water to the green. The all new 17 has an only 243 (white# yards to the green but must carry at least 175 yards to carry the canyon to a quite narrow fairway. Hills to the left and mountainside down to the Columbia River on the right and a deep canyon on the way to the fairway. A bit intimidating. I got lucky and hit the fairway with only about 40 yards to the pin. Hit a Lob Wedge to 2 feet short of the green. Putted to the hole from off the green and it went in for a birdie. .18 another short par 3 #142 Yard white) again over another canyon which is fairly open on the left but the same mountain hazard on the right down to the Columbia River. Ok to be safe hit to the right side of the green! Wrong/ A two level green with the left side higher by at least two maybe three feet than the right side. I hit the left side of the green and had to put to the right side where the in was close to the ledge. Hard to keep the ball on the right side of the green much less get close to the pin. Put right to the edge of the ledge and almost stopped but went down the ledge and at least 5 feet past the pin. Made the putt for a par. The views from these two holes are spectacular of the whole Wenatchee Valley and the Columbia River and the risk/reward of the last two holes are invigorating! Enjoyed the course much more than before.
The views were fantastic.
We had a great time. It was a challenge. The views from the back nine are beautiful.
What a hidden gem of a golf course!!
I hadn't heard about this course previously, but when I saw a deal on golfnow for $21 with a cart I was in. The facilities are really nice, great views from the clubhouse and overall very inviting from the moment you get there. The course is absolutely fantastic. Albeit it's on the short side, each hole is very diverse and challenging. The greens are fairly large but multi-teared and create great challenges to get it close. The bunkers are well placed and manicured. The views from most of the holes are gorgeous, looking at the Columbia and surrounding wineries and mountains. The 9th hole is fantastic test of skill, about 165 yard par 3 over a canyon, bunkers to clear, a long and narrow undulating green and wind make this hole a true test of skill (and blood pressure lol). The finishing 3 holes are so much fun, 17/18 are over canyons and astoundingly beautiful. Overall the course exceeded my expectations and truly is a hidden gem in Washington!
Under construction
Still under c o n s t r u c t i o n, but beautiful.
Great course with accuracy a must
Fun course with great views. Holes nine, seventeen and eighteen are very challenging with exact distances and straightness a must. For a Fall day the course grooming was great!
Good medium length course.
We play Highlander almost every time we come to Wenatchee. The course is a little short, but has some narrow winding fairways, so if you are looking for a roll, you need to land in the fairways. The course is usually in very good condition - this past weekend they had just aerated and sanded the greens, so after a while I more or less worked on getting to the greens in regulation, or chipping onto a location on the greens, maybe putting 1x, and then picked up my ball - it was rough. The value for this course is great - we never pay full price -- between GolfNow and discounts and free rounds we get at the Seattle Golf Show, it is great.
This course isn't what it used to be but it's fun.
I hadn't played this course in years. I was told the front nine was basically the same but the back nine has been entirely redone to accommodate thirty some lots on the back nine.
From where this course started, knee high grass all around, much is different . I think the standard rough and trees bordering all fairways makes this course more like many courses around. Definitely not what this course started out to be.
Spectacular views. On the back nine a few par four holes have been shortened up to the point that they play like par three's. Par 34 on the back nine and really more like 32.
All said I still see the potential. Longer grass in the rough and mow and roll the greens and you have a challenge for sure.
great course
beautiful course with a breathtaking views. the greens were being worked on at the time so putting scores were down but in a couple weeks should be great
Recomended conditionally.
I only got to play the front nine since they were aerating the back. Front nine had already been done and were heavily sanded. Inquire regarding these maintenance issues prior to scheduling.
Staff was super good, even down to the young man who brought a cart over to me at the car prior to check in.
Would love to see the course in none aerated conditions.
* Be Advised: course marshal was playing in a 5some that was reasonably slow and didn't let anyone through.
It took 6 hours to play 16 holes and it was so backed up on 17 we left.
The course was in good shape but with all of the tourney's going on we had to wait on every hole... The starter told us they expected us to keep up with the group ahead of us and it should take us around 4 hours... That was so far from what took place. I will not return...
Nice course
Course is very well maintained and has a lovely view. The "improvements" that have been made over the years have made it very aesthetically pleasing, with two exceptions. Because of the wonderful view holes # 17 & 18 have been changed substantially to accommodate houses and the end of the round has a choppy feel to it due to the layout. Still a very nice course overall.
Great course layout
This course has everything, water, ravines, and tiered greens. The tiered greens brought tears to my partners eyes.
lots of tiered greens and very well maintained course
A fun course to play with challenging greens (many are tiered) and challenging shots over gullys and ravines.
The course has a little of everything
If you like to shoot over water, ravines and putt on tiered greens then this is the course for you.
Will be played again
First time playing the course and it was in great condition. Challenging and fun. Narrow fairways with thick rough so don't stray from the middle. The back 9 is beautiful with challenging holes over canyons and along the hillside. Great views of the Columbia.
Very nice course, well maintained, wonderful views
Expected a typical municipal type course, but was pleasantly surprised. Course was very well maintained, greens were challenging but true.
Located high on bluff so views are wonderful.
We completed our round in a little over 3 and 1/2 hours.
Really great deal for the money. We paid $19 per person which included cart. Unreal deal. If you get a chance to go well worth the price.
Some challenging holes over ravines and onto small landing areas.
The GPS system that I could receive on my I Phone was a little slow, but came in handy on holes that were either blind or that the shot had to travel over a canyon. Nice feature.
good quality course
The front nine is outstanding......excellent condition, interesting to play. Very large greens somewhat undulating. Greens were in excellent condition as well.
Hot deal of the day...
We got the hot deal of the day so excellent value for this course. Pro Shop employee was professional and accommodating. Maintenance staff were somewhat clueless. Usually not a problem but had mowers close to the green...stopped but failed to turn off pto or rev down on numerous occasions...which was distracting. Obviously not a huge deal but common sense and courtesy would have been appreciated. A couple of the back nine holes felt like they were built to fit around a new development (e.g. #17). Looking forward to when changes are complete.
This course is fun to play regardless of skill level.
This was my second time playing this course. The first with my wife and this time with my son (17). Both times it was pretty hot. Highlander had ice cold water every third hole oh so which was great. Both times the course was in good shape. Considering the heat the greens were holding and the ball rolled nice. They made some interesting changes to the last three holes. Interesting but fun. I will play this course again the next time I'm in Wenatchee.
