Great, low stress Golf
Course was in great shape, greens were wonderful with tricky breaks. Pace of play was as expected for a full course, but still less than 4 hrs. All around great day at the course.
Nice Round
Great layout, course in good shape, pace of play was tolerable, overall enjoyable afternoon.
Greens Are Good
The greens are really outstanding at the Landings. No stressed areas on the greens and the greens have some pace to them.
Fairways and rough are good, except for low lying areas where water settled during heavy rainstorms.
The pace of play was outstanding too, The course is a links style course, with the front nine having holes that look very similiar.
Best Greens In The St. Louis Area
I had not played the Landings at Spirit in a few years. I was pleasantly surprised how good the greens were. With many courses struggling with thier greens, none of their greens had any blimishes on them. They also rolled true and were quick.
They also have bent grass tees, which you don't see in this area. The course is marked very well with yardage sticks in the fairways. Sometimes, it was tough to find yardage on the par 3's.
The entire course is flat, with the front nine giving you a feel of Scotland, with several double greens. Many of the fairways look wide open but the vegetation will get you with a wayward drive. Especially, the tall "corn like" plants. The course had significant rains several weeks back, which caused areas of the rough to have standing water. Some of the rough areas are now dead because of this.
The back nine is flat also with most of the greens with 2 or 3 tiers. Some of the holes have moguls framing the fairways.
I can be noisy with the course being right next to an airport. The cart paths are really in poor shape also.
Overall, with such good greens, you should get out and play the Landings.
Good course but too many similar looking holes
A fun course to play and it does not have any water hazards. Seems like every time I play there, it is pretty crowded and leads to slower than usual rounds. However, the marshall who was out there came up to us on the back nine and checked to see if we wanted to jump ahead to get ahead of a REALLY slow foursome.
One of the things that seems to stand out to me is how many of the holes seem similar. A lot of them are just flat, straight holes without a ton of challenges. No. 16 is a very short par five and many people can get on in two. The home hole is interesting. If you can hit a big tee shot, longer hitters might be able to drive the green if you are playing one of the more forward tees.
The course is usually in good shape and the greens are always excellent. A lot of planes were talking off the day we played and the Air Force jets made a ton of noise. Will continue to play many times in the future.
Nice Course But ...
The course layout is good and in fair condition. However the staff was unprofessional and really didn’t care about the golfers.
Moderate Difficulty but Fast Greens
Pricey unless you play non-premium tee times. IMO course is not worth the premium Saturday morning rate. That being said, the course is set up to give everyone a chance to play. Almost all of the greens are open for links style golf shots. The greens are spacious, and usually some of the best in St Louis public golf. They can sometimes get real fast and therein lies the challenge of the course. To score well, the golfer must have a solid short game to save strokes around these greens.
Deadly Greens
Amazing what they can on this course with little to work with.Fairly wide open links style course with little water or sand hazards pretty easy to play. However, with 15-20mph wind this course becomes a whole different beast. The greens are exceptional and are some of the best greens around this area all year round.
They really are what protects this easy layout and can be unpredictable.
This is not worth the money!
The course was in decent condition but we definitely did not feel we got our money's worth. At those prices there should be gps systems or at least graphics of what the holes look like. No drink cart, yardage not well marked. Very disappointing!
Great course
The condition of the course was excellent, especially since we've had so much rain. The staff was friendly and helpful. I have enjoyed playing this course in the past, and will continue to come back.
First time
The Landings,Spirit of STL, was a very nice course, with fast and true greens.
with 5 different tee boxes, it makes the course flexible for all levels of golfers
Easy course in great condition.
Played yesterday. For winter the course was in great shape and I can't wait to see it in the spring. The only complaint I have about the course is the lack of water hazards but what they do have is in great shape. I will play here again
A good flat windy course.
This is a nice course the flags have so much character, but it's not as challenging as I thought it would be, but for the money it's a nice test for your iron play, the gust of wind make club selection for approach shot somewhat difficult. Greens are fast but readable. Solid layout, with few hazards.
long course, redundant holes, over priced
This course has a few nice layout holes, but suffers from redundancy and over pricing. It's a beginner friendly course so its worth picking up a cheap round on GolfNow. I would not recommend paying the clubhouse rate.
Nice course
Nice course but very crowded, they keep you moving at a good pace
Friendly staff
A very well maintained golf course. Wide open fairways with very few obstacles.
Great overall course
Very helpful and accommodating starter.
Immaculate fairways.
Well manicured green.
Will play any time.
Due to the proximity to the Spirit of St. Louis Airport, water hazards are prohibited to reduce waterfowl in the area.
