Reviews
It’s soggy
Very challenging course made more so in wet winter season, some parts of many fairways are very soggy, balls could disappear under floating layer of grass. The greens are still great once you got on. Waterproof shoes are a must!
Very nice condition
It’s definitely playable now with less rain, even though some spots are still wet from previous days light rain. Greens are nice with some very slight bumps near holes that did cause some strange misses. Otherwise it’s still enjoyable but the back 9 is no longer rural, it’s urban now with all the new houses being built right up to the fence lines.
Bad Golf etiquette
There did not seem to be a marshal on the course to push pace of play or police golf etiquette.
The group in front was playing in the protected wet lands, tromping all over, did not rake one single sand trap. Did not take appropriate clubs to the green side from their cart.
We told the starter about it and he just shrugged his shoulders.
The group was more than a par 5 behind group in front of them.
Camas Meadows
The course was in excellent shape. Requires accuracy and is a good test for any golf game .
Bit long for walking
Fun and challenging course. Long par 5s and some good redemption holes. Probably won’t walk 18 again, some of the layout makes you back track or trek a ways until the next tee box. Will definitely be back though with a cart.
Slow play ruined a great day
Perfect weather, great track, and then paired with a couple who were not seasoned golfers. SLOW! Received a rain check for nine holes, but it was a wasted opportunity. Need to do more to monitor golfers speed.
Poor Customer Service
This beautiful golf course may have a customer service problem.
An error occurred with the reservation through golfnow.com - someone else’s names were used for the tee time. In an attempt to use customer service, the desk personnel radioed the first tee person to request that the golfers be “squeezed in”. That first tee person was unwilling to make an adjustment and became argumentative with the guests. The golfers eventually joined a 4-some who’s tee time was 8am also but 2 of those golfers were a “no show”. Coincidence?
GolfNow.com’s confirmation email shows 2 golfers 18 holes @ 8am which is correct. Camas Meadows had booked that time with another name who didn’t show up. However, this request for a review indicates that the golf time was 3pm same date.
Long story short... when an error occurs with the booking company that Camas Meadows does business with, Camas Meadows has the obligation to its guests. The team members should communicate effectively and not declare to the guest that he won’t be helping out this morning and ask the guests to review his schedule and decide just how he should “squeeze them in”.
I cannot imagine choosing Camas Meadows golf course for a birthday gift again. I heard it was beautiful, though.
Camas Meadows still doesn't get it.
Camas Meadows is only playable in the summer because of poor drainage. So we played today in mid-August and found February conditions because of tons of water dumped on the course every night. I lost two balls in the fairway because of plugging....water standing on the course....mushrooms growing around tee boxes and on fairways...ridiculous. Will someone clue these people in that in summer it should PLAY like it's summer?
Vancouver golf
Very good course played with Marshall name Greg. Very enjoyable to play with . Course in very good condition. Would recommend to everyone. Greens were slow but been dry for awhile in Vancouver.
Need More Info
The distance between holes is extremely long. Patrons should be notified before teeing off and encouraged to ride.
Poor pro shop staff
If it wasn’t for the friendly upbeat restaurant staff, we would not be playing here again. The pro shop staff is not friendly, like not even a little bit. My buddy just spent $15K on a wedding last summer and all they wanted to give us was a free cart? And the caviat was, we had to prepay ahead of time for the green fee in order to get the free cart. No thanks Camas Meadows!
Country Club
I was prepared to walk, but when I saw the vast majority taking carts I didn't and was glad---there is quite a bit of walking between some holes. The best aspect of Camas is the layout. A variety of holes and tees. Some wooded holes and many water hazards. The greens, though recently punched were true, and all the bunkers were filled with ample sand. Definitely a place to which I will return
Worth it...
This course offers a classic NW feel w/ Mt. Hood in the back ground and tall trees lining most fairways.
Really enjoy how each hole is carved in the landscape. To score well, you're going to need to be precise off the tee and hit you wedges well. The greens are not terribly hard- once you're there :)
While it's sightly more expensive than other courses in the area like Heron Lakes, Rose City, Tri Mountain which are generally open and allow you to "swing for the fences"- Camas is more narrow and challenging, and worth the extra cash.
Very well maintained, the course is fun, challenging, and rewarding. THe club house is beautiful and the post round beer/food is great too.
While walking the course is fairly flat and easy, there are some pretty lengthy walks between holes- I'm talking 5-7 min walks.
The range is across the street from the club house which requires a bit of a walk. However, great practice facilities.
Go play Camas Meadows...
Fun course close to Portland.
We live in downtown Portland but try to place CM at least once a year - 30 min drive is quite acceptable. Greens were in perfect condition and the rest of the course was better than most for end-of-summer play. Interesting course with no 2 holes the same. Clubhouse for an after-round drink is very nice.
