Course conditions excellent
Despite the dry summer weather, course conditions were excellent. Greens, fairways and sand traps were well maintained and consistent. Course layout has no surprises or gimmicks and is playable for all handicap levels. Cost to play this tract is a great deal.
Stone Creek is also one of the driest courses in the Portland Metro area during the wet periods of Autumn, Winter and Spring.
Morning Golf
Teed off early, played at a steady pace, the course was in great shape, and it was a nice way to start the day.
Great condition in the heat.
This course was in great shape considering the hot weather recently. Really enjoyed the round, although #14 was a bit confusing.
Greens are excellent
Was told by a friend while playing a different course in the area to Check out Stone Creek golf course. I'm sure glad I did! The greens were in excellent condition, Layout so much fun . The Starter, pro shop, even beverage cart girl very friendly and helpful. Will be back soon ⛳️
Every Hole Is exciting, pretty hard to find
Thanks to the staff at Stone Creek and to Golfnow for an affordable fun day of golf and relaxing lunch at Stone Creek Golf Course. Nice people at this place. The course is in very good shape.
Well maintained, easy to play
This course was well maintained; fairways were clean, rough was playable, even the fescue was playable. The rolling hills make it an interesting and sometimes challenging track; while a few blind shots make you want to play it safe, the openness of the landing areas just scream 'go for it!' Greens were firm and fast, but still easy enough to hold even coming into one with a 5 wood. All in all, would definitely play here again if the price was right...regular weekend rates are $65 w/cart which is on par for the course quality but still a little higher for the Portland area.
Excellent experience
The course is very well designed and was in fantastic shape. The greens were quick and true with the bunkers well maintained. There are some challenging holes with elevation changes. Great views of Mt. Hood. Nice practice areas for chipping and putting. And you will hit off grass at the driving range.
Late late twilight
Stone Creek is one of the nicer public courses close to where I live and I enjoy playing several times a year. The night my wife and I tried to play there was a large group of junior golfers and the pace of play was generally slower than normal. We still enjoy the course and the fact it's close to home.
Great interesting course- very firm in the summer
I found the course and company great. Pace took nearly 5 hours though due to some slow groups but since everyone is nice worked out fine.
Front nine is comfortable and really ramps up in the back. Great variety and views.
The greens rolled great but also super fast in the heat.
Outstanding Experience
Weather wasn't perfect, but the golf experience was. It started with the genuinely friendly and helpful staff helping check in and getting everyone out on the course. From there nothing but fun on a challenging, well maintained and staffed golf course. Lost a few balls, but the price was right, service on the course was great and the condition of the greens was amazing. Kind of rainy, but fast firm greens and got nice bounce in the fairway. Amazing. Pace was very good considering the weather and a couple of slower groups. About 4:30 with our carts on path only.
PA
overrated
I don't understand all the love this course gets. The front 9 is nice enough, but the layout and playability of the back 9 is bad, plain and simple. I suppose they couldn't do much with the parcel of land they had, but the stretch of holes from 12-16 are just silly. It's fun to be challenged by a golf course, but if the course is hard because it's gimmicky that is frustrating, not fun. Not only that, those holes brought the round to a standstill. We were stacked up 3 deep waiting to tee off on most of those holes, and this was a mid-morning weekday tee time. I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend.
The golf shop & grill were mediocre at best. The twosome we got paired with got delayed close to 10 minutes trying to get food at the turn. That said, the staff was all quite friendly and the drink cart was on the spot.
Finally, I don't think this course drains as well as people say. It was definitely muddy in several places. It's been a wet spring, but I've played other courses nearby earlier this season that were much better. Do yourself a favor - spend 5-10 dollars more and play somewhere else.
Sunny day
5.5 hr round is just not right. Marshall was doing his best. This course must be in pristine condition to get a sub 5 hour round in play. Still a bit damp on the back nine. And really, 13 and 15 are just a stupid layout.
Wet and wild, but the course handled it well.
I played during one of the wind storms we had this spring with 10-25 mph gusts, raining most of the round and at some points heavy down poor. The course was still pretty firm and handles water very well. Greens putted pretty fast and true for a rainy day.
This is one of Portland area top 10 courses in my opinion I look forward to playing it on a dryer warmer day.
