Great course, please fix pitch marks all over greens
Loved just about everything about this course. Great layout. Fairways in great shape. Greens were nice but all of them had either had unrepaired ball marks or just too many of them. Wasn’t a major deal just surprised to see that on every green for this type of course. All in all can’t wait to play it again.
Great Course
First time playing the course, staff in the pro shop was very friendly.
While putting on the practice green noticed it if I was above the whole it was quick and that correlated to when I was on the course as well. Really enjoyed the course it wasn’t that busy today. You definitely have to look at the hole layout. Many times you will not have a level why in the fairway. The greens Road true so I tried to play below the hole on each hole. Will definitely be back
GREAT DAY!
THIS COURSE IS ALWAYS FUN AND CHALLENGING. GOOD MIX OF HOLES, SOME HARDER THAN OTHERS. GREAT CONDITIONS AND WE HAD PERFECT WEATHER
Fun layout at a great price!!
Visiting from Texas and really enjoyed this place!!! Excellent condition, interesting layout, and challenging but fair greens. Staff was very nice as well!
Great Course but too many locals randomly jumping on/off
Played here on a Saturday afternoon as a single. The course was in great condition. Most of the greens are guarded by bunkers. The layout was challenging with sloping fairways. You have to hit your shots correctly to have the ball roll down to the middle of the fairways, otherwise there's trouble. There are a couple of holes with trees in the middle of the fairway. One wasn't bad because it had a very wide fairway. This one is reachable in 2, but I ended up in the bunker. The other was a narrow par 5 with a tree in the middle. Annoying.
The pace of play was about 4 hours / 18 when I was behind a foursome. They let me go ahead and it seemed wide open. It seems that the locals that live nearby houses randomly jump on the course and play or just drive their carts around the golf course without playing. It's was really frustrating. Oh and make sure you book through golfnow because they'll charge you more at the course.
Nice course, very difficult
This is a very nice course with a challenging layout. It's rare that you have a flat lie for your second shot. Very accurate drive required. Greens are relatively fast, but consistent from hole to hole. If you have greater than an 18 handicap, don't break 90, I wouldn't play here. It will be very frustrating and your slow play will back up the course, which is very busy. We waited on 11 for 20 minutes for the group in front of us to play. I'm guessing there were all 100+ golfers.
There are no "quick" lunches so if you are making the turn and want a sandwich, call ahead. I wish they had the number posted on #7 with a sign like a lot of other courses do.
You can't walk this course. The green-to-tee distances are very long on several holes.
The Good, The Bad and The Rough
The Good - this is my favorite course within a half-hour of home. It's well managed with excellent staffing, pristine sloping fairways, beautiful scenery and homes, and mostly well-manicured greens (more on that later). The enlarged and improved restaurant even make it a desired destination for non-golfers.
The Bad - it's not for the faint of heart. After starting on the white tees, we played the greens on the back nine because the course had become longer than our 2-year absence remembered. We had forgotten why it's been home to the Monday Qualifying Round of the Barbasol Open the last 2 times it's been held in the Lexington market. There are more doglegs than straight shots, and then add in fast greens.
By the way, a few of the greens are infected with a type of fungus, and have been for a number of years.
The Rough - again it's been a couple of years since we've played here but were surprised the rough was so near to the well-groomed fairways and so smothering. There didn't seem to be a "second cut" as at most courses. We collectively lost between 6 and 8 balls, several landing just off the fairway but never to be seen again.
For a novice, the course can be frustrating due to its length, slopes, doglegs, blind shots and speedy greens. So, beware. But for most The Good may outweigh The Bad and The Rough to make for at least a pleasant round of golf.
Great day on the course, not the clubhouse.
Enjoyed the course, but as a health professional I was concerned when I entered the clubhouse and saw no one wearing a mask. At least 30 people standing in groups and no staff wearing coverings.
Great course
The conditions are the best around! They’ve done a great job with the greens and fairways. Pace of play wasn’t the best but that’s just due to inexperienced golfers not knowing the play through etiquette. All around fantastic course
Great Course
Course for this time of year was in outstanding condition. Pace of play was a bit slow in terms of the high volume of staggered tee times, but the two slower groups ahead of us displayed great etiquette and let us play through. Layout is fantastic, makes for a beautiful, difficult round. Staff was absolutely horrible. Cart path only, and he told me this no less than 3 times while checking out (as though I had just been caught doing otherwise). Tone was rude. He clearly didn’t want to be there, and while I have rough days at my job also, I have an understanding that a retail business requires customer support on bad days too. Definitely worth checking the course out though!
Winter Golf
It was 27 degrees when we started and 32 when we finished, but never felt that cold. Greens were very smooth overall. First 6 holes had frozen greens but we adjusted for the conditions. Overall, course was in great condition for winter golf in January.
Biggest knock on this course wad the price. With taxes and fees, we got the Hot Deal @ $37 per player. This should be half the price in the winter. We are not golfing in Georgia. Courses in KY used to have winter rates but those all seem to have gone away and greed has crept in. Let's be real, 1 guy working in the clubhouse and nobody cutting grass or watering.
Pass the saving onto the golfer.
