On back 9 Photo submitted by Lsj021 on 11/18/2012
Continues to be great
This course has always been in great shape. This was the 5th time I’ve played here.
Amazing Course, But…
Played this course, and we were amazed at how nice it was. All of the cart paths were cement, and were in great condition. The grass, from the tee boxes, to the fairways, 2nd cut, and greens, were all in absolutely great condition. It was beautiful to play on! Hole layout was amazing. The back 9 holes were incredible with elevated tees and so much scenery. I’ve played 5 different courses in the area, and this is by far my favorite course so far! It’s even better than many course I’ve played in the West, from Southern CA, Las Vegas, and Utah. This course really is one worth the money due to its views and how well the grass and layout is maintained. There is also plenty of trees to give shade to you on hot days, as well as bathrooms along the way to do your business if needed.
My only gripe is pace of play and the lack of a course ranger. The front 9 holes were great. We barely had any waiting time. There is an employee at hole 1 to check you in, which is nice so that check-ins go smoothly. Pace of play was a 8/10 on the front 9. Hole 10 is next to hole 1 as well. Well, when we finished the front 9, and moved to hole 10, that employee was no longer there (our tee time was 1:40pm and we got to hole 10 ~3:55pm so I’m assuming he wasn’t there due to the later time). So we made our way to hole 10 and we were backed up 4 groups on that hole! In other words, we were three groupings behind the group teeing off. What happened???? It was not like this on the front 9. So, due to this, it took 45 minutes to finish hole 10!! Insane! Pace was very slow after hole 10. It got a tad better once we got through hole 10, but we still were waiting for two groups on every hole after that. Due to this, we had to leave the course after hole 14 because it was already 5:45pm! So it took 2 hours to complete 5 holes which is just ridiculous! To make it worse, there wasn’t a single course ranger in sight making sure pace of play was improving. I’m sure some extra groups snuck their way into the back 9 because the back 9 on this course is by far the most scenic and fun to play, so everyone wants to play it. If groups did sneak their way in, it’s 100% due to that employee leaving his station at hole 1 check-in, or the course not having anyone making sure they aren’t cutting into the back 9!
Well, we decided to drive through the rest of the course, and when we came to hole 16, we found which group was holding up everyone else. And guess what? As we passed them, and then drive through holes 17 and 18, there wasn’t a single group of golfers either on holes 17 or 18! So due to that very slow group on hole 16, and the lack of the course having rangers, many of us got frustrated and didn’t really enjoy our play and had to leave a lot earlier than we desired due to it.
This is my biggest gripe here. It’s our first time here, so I can’t say this happens every time, but it happened on the time we went, so I feel it’s worth mentioning it would possibly be a common theme there.
A little slow but a weekend. Alway fun, especially the back nine.
Nice improvements
The previous manager was a dirt bag, new management is trying hard. Course is in great shape including greens and tee boxes. Most of the sand traps have had little to no attention for years and need some serious work. Not asphalt hard like before but can't really call it sand.
First Visit
Enjoyed the course, especially the contrast between the front and back nines. Course was in very good condition, definitely plan to play again on my next trip to Tucson.
Good course for enjoying golfing, but no driving range.
Course layout & views of back nine was great. Do not arrive early. There is almost nothing to do. No driving range. Small putting/chipping areas only.
Much improved
Everything was much improved Staff was friendly and I felt welcomed. Course conditions are moving in the right direction, greens rolled better, not as bumpy. Could be a little faster. Tee boxes in different spots along with flag locations.
Outstanding Condition
The course is in the best condition I have ever seen it! Tee thru greens including the rough, is all in fantastic shape.
Thank you for the 4 star review! We appreciate your support and strive to continue improving our guests experiences. We hope to see you again soon. Happy Golfing!
