Headed back to Plymouth MA 12/18....after this. Photo submitted by bkunc55 on 12/24/2012
Course was well maintained
First time at this course. Staff was very friendly and helpful on how to get around the course. Fairways are in great shape, the greens were a little challenging and the ball rolled true. We will return.
Take the challenge
A bit of wear and tear on the surface, but a test of your skills
Great day!
Great day on the links. Course in great shape and greens were super. Pace of play was slow but it was sunny and warm so enjoyed the day.
Three Strikes
Actually enjoyed playing del Lago. On the bright side, the fairways and greens are better than average. Driving range and practice facilities are also excellent. However, the gentleman in the golf shop had an attitude (Strike 1). The “bunkers” are a combo of mud, clay, rocks, and a little sand mixed in (Strike 2) Finally, although course ranger was onsite, pace of play was excruciating due to the guy in front of us teaching his friends to play golf for the first time, resulting in a 5.5 hour round (Strike 3) This course has real potential but has work to do to be compared to the best.
Well worth the drive
The thing I like the most about Del Lago is that no 2 holes are the same. Great target golf course. Bunkers need work however. Will continue to play a couple of times per month this winter.
Great time. We'll be back
First time here and really enjoyed it. Spouse and I paired with locals who helped. Scenic, elevation changes. Greens quick and consistent, Course in great shape.
.
I was very disappointed that no one in the pro shop knew how to ring up a check for payment Not even the manager. After about 10 minutes of fumbling around and trying to figure this out, I finally gave them a credit card, which I hadn't wanted to use. Maybe train your staff better.
Course was ok, not in the best shape we've ever seen it.
Price was fair.
Finally added sand!
Del Lago continues to improve! It appears that all the bunkers I found throughout the day finally had real sand added - not just rocks like in the past.
Only bummer was a 1hr delay due to frost, but they worked hard to get everyone out as soon as possible. Pace of play was great. Didn’t need to really wait on the people in front of us, and never felt rushed either.
Looking forward to my next round!
No service
Arrived for our tee time only to find a sign on the pro shop door stating the course was closed for the day. Restaurant staff found a pro shop person who advised the course was closed due to the ground being frozen. Pretty sure the ground isn’t frozen after one night two degrees below freezing. Also no frost on the ground whatsoever. Told her that we had a tee time through golf now, to which she replied that golf now should have told us the course is closed. So called golf now to cancel. The gentleman said he would have to call the course to confirm the closure. He couldn’t get through but the restaurant told him the pro shop was closed. Shoddy customer service by this course, excellent customer service by golf now.
Great course
Love the layout. They have removed a lot of brush since I was there last. Looks good. Most tee boxes show a lot of wear though.Hope to get up that way again soon.
Greens in Great Shape
Best time of year to play. Unfortunately, the traps, like most in Tucson are filled with rocks. I usually drop out of the traps because I like my golf clubs. That being said, the greens are in fantastic shape right now. Now is the time to play Del Lago if you haven’t in a while.
Del Lago
Greens and tee boxes were perfect. Fairways were harder than the parking lot. Fast and long rolls. No divets for sure. Sand was mostly ungroomed.
Wind changes everything
I've played this course 20 or 30 times and it's always in great shape. But when the wind starts blowing, this corse changes!
