Headed back to Plymouth MA 12/18....after this. Photo submitted by bkunc55 on 12/24/2012
Unreasonably slow
There was a 3 to 4 minute wait on every shot. Front 9 took almost 3 hours. Course was not that busy though. It turns out there was a huge gap a few holes ahead as two groups were holding things up. There was a ranger on course, but apparently was occupied doing something else.
DelLago had only opened a couple of days before we played due to over seating. The course is in great shape, and the pace of play was good considering we were cartpath only
We have played this course several times, and would recommend to anyone who is interested in a challenging course that is always in great shape.
Experience
No body said it was cart path only till we arrived. Too far to just turn around. No handicap accomodation. lot of walking but pace of play was very good. This was our only issue
What happened?
Fairways were totally dead grass and pace of play was horrendous. Usually love del lago but something is going on. Cart kept almost dying on us and waited on every tee box for 15 minutes.
Nice layout / Decent value
Love the course layout. Gold tees for high single-digit handicap were perfect. Bunkers are crap - like most public courses. Greens were pretty good for a muni. Cart paths are beat up - get on grass ASAP. BRING YOUR OWN WATER!! There was none on the course and we only saw the beverage cart once - on the 9th hole and not at all on the back. Any hotter and it would have been a significant problem.
Terrific course
Greens and fairways in great shape overall. Bunkers awful but what’s expected around Tucson.
Maintenance crew
Most courses you play the maintenance crew will stop the loud noise makers when you are going to hit a shot. Not this place. Business as usual. Shredding trees, driving carts toward you on fairway when you are about to hit a shot.
Worth the money
Other than slow play and minor storm debris still on course, i enjoyed the round.
Hit it straight!
First of all I'm 67 and a 19 index. At elevation in Tucson, I can still hit about 220 for desert golf, about 205 at sea level at home. I never hit the range much before a round preferring to get it going in the first few holes. Advice: Warm up at the range. The first tee box is a 180 carry to the fairway and the next tee back is 220. The 2nd hole visually looks like a postage stamp. Many of the fairways are a little narrow for me when missing puts you in cactus. Overall, I need a second chance here. The bunkers weren't consistent and neither were the greens. However, a great value for the money!
Best place to play for overall everything!!
This is the best course to play in Tucson for the price of a tee time!!! Course is very well lalyer out
Nice Layout in Bad Shape
Staff was friendly and helpful.
T boxes were in poor repair.
Fairways were dirt-like and burnt out in many places.
Fringes around the green had weeds growing.
Greens were a bit bumpy.
The restaurant was excellent for a post-round lunch.
