Windswept Dunes Golf Club tumbles across a dramatic landscape covered with white sand dunes accented by lush green fairways. The golf course appeals to players of all skill levels thanks to player-friendly features that are balanced by strategically placed hazards. Although each hole shares the characteristic of being lined with dunes, they each maintain a unique character. The rolling fairways are often wide and generous off the tee and the sand dunes, which stretch from tee too green, are only punishing of the most errant of shots. The approach shots though are as demanding as the tee shots are forgiving. There are numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the large, smooth greens. While the occasional water hazard comes into play, the bunkers are the most challenging element of Windswept Dunes Golf Club.

Widest fairways you will ever play in your life. Course was in decent shape except the greens were way slower than the other 6 courses we played in Florida. If you love to bomb it, this is your course. If you like fast greens, go somewhere else. I would only suggest this course if you are in need of a warmup or have time to kill before flying out of panama city.

Best value course in the area by far!

You need to play here. I manage a golf course in Texas, our family comes to Panama City Beach for vacation every year.

We played this course for the first time last year, normally play a few places during our trip. This year, we played Windswept twice.

Course is incredibly managed, in immaculate condition, and offers a variety of tees to fit any type of game. If you’re a beginner, you can enjoy it. If you’re a plus handicap, it offers a great challenge for you.

I can promise you will not regret choosing this course.

Starter today was a little rude, would be the ONLY negative. But hey, he probably has a bunch of rude people to deal with so he gets a pass.

Great great. We love it

The course is a little off the beaten path but we find it well worth the drive to get there. The course was in great shape. It can be as challenging as you want distance wise and the greens are very challenging. The fairways are ample and I think the is why the course rating is pretty low from the middle tees and up. It’s ok because you can move back and play from up to 7,700 yards (we played from 6,500). There is a tee for all skill/distance levels. Most times pace of play is very good. You can tee off starting at 6 am. Highly recommend playing here if you’re in the area.

Course is what I call a bombers course. Wide fairways with a number of tee boxes. Everything great except a little pricey. I think they would benefit from doing dynamic pricing or daily rates to up their amount of participants.
Beautiful course and setting, just a bit off the travel track. We will be back again because we still feel it is worth the 45 minute drive from Destin.

Best course in the area

We’ve been coming to this area in August for a number of years. Have tried many courses up and down the coastline around San Destin and Panama City Beach. We decided we’d try this even though it was a little farther away from us. Wow, are we glad we did. This is a fantastic course that I don’t think a lot of people know about. It’s got length, it’s got beautiful fairways, it’s fair and the greens are challenging. No gimmicks here, just sound golf. Don’t hesitate, just go. You will thank me.

Great course but maybe a little overpriced.

This course is awesome. Every part of it is in great shape. Layout is pretty good. However, I don't feel like it is a $95 course. At that rate, I would expect a nice clubhouse and better amenities. And please, you could at least include range balls. Twilight tee times are not much cheaper than full price.

I will give credit to them for having a ranger who actually does his job!

Hidden Gem

Played this course while on vacation on 6.21.2021. I hadn't played here before, but I remember checking it out online on previous trips to the Destin area. I remember always being kind of hesitant because it's about 10-15 miles north of Santa Rosa and we always thought this was kind of out of the way. Well, with the traffic situation in Destin and Sandestin, if you're staying near Santa Rosa or Rosemary Beach, this is a no brainer, as you'll likely make your trip faster here & back than you would going further into the Destin area.

This course really was a great all around experience. The course itself is very well manicured and each hole presented a unique challenge, which I really enjoy. The tees range from under 6k yards to nearly 8k yards, so whether you're a bomber or a little shorter off the tee, you can find a set that fits your eye.

The only knocks I have on Windswept are the range and the clubhouse. I would expect for a $100 green fee to have some range balls included. I think that's a fair ask for that price tag. The only other thing I found lacking at Windswept was the clubhouse. It just seemed to be a little underwhelming given how nice the golf course is. But let's be clear, neither of those things impact the quality of golf when you get out on the course. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone and I will happily play it again the next time I am in the area.

Great Course/Staff but STOLEN RANGEFINDER

We played here on 5/18 and 5/20 and finished our round at about 1:30 pm on Thursday 5/20/21. At 2:00pm, I realized I had left my Bushnell Tour V5 shift range finder on the passenger side of the cart and called the clubhouse. They still haven’t had it come up yet. I used the rangefinder on the last hole and kept it on the passenger side rail with the magnetic bite attachment.
We really enjoyed the course (so much that we played twice last week) and had a good experience until this.
I’ve only had the rangefinder for a few months, Not sure who stole it, but will give a $50 reward if returned.

It is a little off the beaten path if you are staying in Destin but it is a great course. Fairways and greens are huge. It definitely is a bombers course with 6 tee boxes but our group with an array of handicaps found it challenging.
Staff was very helpful from the clubhouse to the starter.
We stay at Sandestin every year but feel it is worth the drive of 35 minutes. Thank you for your hospitality and friendliness. We will be back!!!

Great golf, but poor value

Golf course was in excellent condition. A fun track to play as you don’t really have to worry about poor drives too much as the fairways are so wide. Although the fairways are wide, check a GPS map, cause there are many fairway bunkers you can find very easily if you don’t look and see what’s out on front of your first. There are lots of hidden bunkers and other hazards.

Although, the actual golf was great, there were several things that turned me off. The lack of GolfNow Hotdeals or even just a presence on GolfNow was strange. You’re pretty much stuck paying rack rate and no one likes that. That is around $85 for non-locals which is almost as high as Regatta Bay and Kelly Plantation that are just as beautiful and a much higher end experience.

Also, small quirks like no tees in the carts, old carts, and no free range balls ($7 for the tiniest bucket ever) all contributed to an off-putting experience. After adding the cost of balls, you’re pretty neat the cost of the bigger courses in Destin.

Also, I’m not a huge fan of the lightning fast ginormous greens. Kind of gimmicky in my opinion and sometimes even impossible to make a one-putt depending on Lin location. I’d recommended Rocky Bayou Country Club in Niceville for a more economical experience with great conditions.

It was fun for the day, but I probably won’t go back. Too many other options, especially when you can catch a HotDeal.

Beautifully designed and maintained

They were a little packed for Black Friday. Other than waiting for a couple of groups to tee off on each hole and no beverage cart, the course is perfect! Most of the time you don't realize you're playing amongst houses. The holes are spread apart, so I wouldn't walk it unless you're really trying to make a point. They design and layout made a delightful challange. I grew up near Treetops, so it was unique hearing the history. Great job!

Longgggggg!

Beautiful course that’s tucked away from beach, I’ve been coming over to 30A for a few years and didn’t even know it existed. The layout and conditions are fantastic for the price but you better be long off the tee, I played emerald’s (6500 yards) and it seemed to play 500-600 yards longer than scorecard indicated, definitely check it out, a lot easier on the wallet than Sharks Tooth or Camp Creek

Worth the drive

A little off the beach but glad I went. I haven’t played a lot of courses in the panhandle but this was my favorite so far. Nice layout among man made dunes which separate the holes from each other and the housing. Staff very friendly, excellent practice areas (driving range, chipping area with bunker and MASSIVE putting green that gets you ready for what you’ll see on the course. Large greens that were in the best condition I’ve seen in the area, generous fairways with multiple tees to suit any skill level. Pace of play was a bit slow for my taste but enjoyable. Will return next time I’m in the area.

Fun Course. Good shape.

Played this course a couple years ago. A fun course to play. Greens were nice and quick. Enjoy the duney wasteland Florida golf vs the resort style Florida golf so I liked this one. Clubhouse was mediocre but course was great and I would come back! Had a slow foursome in front of us but otherwise a fun day!

Excellent All Around

Course surface was perfect everywhere. Unique layout on some holes with a lot of bunkers around greens. The course plays extremely long from the back 3 tee boxes so would recommend playing closer if you’re an average player. Driving range was huge with very good surface. Staff was very friendly. I would not recommend walking the course, there is a lot of distance getting from hole to hole. The course was well worth the money and i’m amazing condition. Also very challenging.

A bucket list course

Windswept Dunes hosted the annual Brant Family Invitational this year and it did not disappoint. This course is long but has numerous tee options for every skill level. If you are a single digit handicap play at least the Emerald or Ocean tees to get a taste of what this course is truly about. Taking the correct line of the tee is more important than length and precision approach shots into massive greens are required to avoid the possibility of 3 putting. The staff is great and the course is gorgeous. A must play if you are anywhere within a two hour drive.

Windswept Dunes worth the drive

Decided to play Windswept Dunes after having it recommended by so many paired-up playing partners over the years on vacation in the Panama City/Destin area.

It is about 30 minutes up Highway 331, and like several have posted here before me, I think it is worth the drive.

This well-groomed course is very wide off the tee. Approach shots are played to massive greens, that were very soft and had a good bit of grain to them. Several complexes were very challenging, including the seventh, ninth, 12th and 18th.

Large sandy waste areas punctuate most holes.

Though there were some very good holes - particularly the par-4 ninth, par-4 11th, and par-3 12th - most were not challenging enough to hold the better player’s interest. If familiar with the area, it’s not of the caliber of Camp Creek or Sandestin’s The Raven, but is on par with Hombre or Bay Point.

Still, this is a fun play, and an excellent upper shelf option for mid-to-high handicappers.
