If in the area, try it
We golfed on a Monday and I think they were setting
it up for a weekday mow as all tee boxes had the colored tees
set off to the side. Found the fairways slightly higher than should be the norm (again I think they were getting things ready for mowing).
Fast & difficult greens.
tough par 5s
need straight drives on the par fives with lots of water
nice blending of original nine hole course with the "new" nine holes.
Many of the greens look large, but some have false fronts and fall offs to the sides, making the target area much smaller than it looks. Careful placement of tee shots is important on some holes, especially when the course is firm.
Scenic beauty
Looking forward to returning and bringing some friends!
Great Views and slick greens
Great course layout, large contoured greens, sand traps need some attention but are plenty playable. wonderful views of the mountains. God food and drink available in the club house plus a picture perfect deck to relax on after a very enjoyable round of golf.
The course is in good shape
It rained all night and most of the morning and we played in the afternoon and it wasn't wet. Carts were allowed to go all over, very few wet spots. Greens needed cutting but wasn't bad. They are probabality behind because we had a lot of rain lately.
love the location
this golf course is set in a perfect location if you like scenic views and a tranquil setting. the mid-hudson valley offers many courses that make you feel you have the whole course to yourself.
Worth the money
Played with my wife and enjoyed the day. If you live in the area it's worth playing as the greens are smallish and require your attention in pitching, chippping and putting. If you have to travel any distance to get there i'd think twice because it is really down the road a piece. The restaurant was good and the rib-eye was a deal for $19.95.
great variety
Prepare for a warm welcome from the DeForest family. Nice variety of challenging holes, combined with a beautiful hill top setting. Finishing hole can be a bear if you mis-club. Golf as it should be, good test combined with a relaxed atmosphere.
Some tuff holes
Cold in April but course was in very good shape greens were fast
Great course for the money.
I played the course without a GPS so it was more challenging due to the fact that it was difficult to find exact yardage on about 50% of shots. Fairways were well maintained but I could still see the damage done by recent heavy rains to the cart paths. Taking that into consideration the course was in very good shape. Some greens showed evidence of water damage around the edges but rolled fairly true. Pace would have been better if we didn't have a grandfather with his wife and two grandsons slowing down play (they were taking 30 to 40 minutes to play a par 3). I had to skip a hole to play through. After that pace was rather quick. My only advice would be to make sure you stay in the fairway. My playing partner lost 3 balls that we watched land but could not find. He found 4 other balls so this must have been a problem for those in front of us also. All in all this a good course that could be great if not for the 5 inches of rain in one day two weeks ago. I will be returning especially with the great discounts on Golfnow.
